Description:

The holidays are just around the corner and for some of us that means cooking and baking. Let's do it in style with an apron! For this swap you will have one partner and will make one apron.

Swappers, if you have a style you like or colors or fabric type or size...leave a comment. If you don't care what sort of apron your recieve...then great-let your partner suprise you. For making the aprons...options are endless...a cool vintage apron, a carpenters apron, a half apron...fabric choices are limitless. You could create and sew an apron with a Thanksgiving theme or Christmas /Winter Holiday theme or even a Halloween theme or an everyday year round apron trimmed in rick rack and in an awesome color combination. The sky is really the limit! There are a ton of free apron patterns on the internet. All just asking to be sewn and swapped.

Embelished blank store bought aprons are fine...but if you want to go this route, put your creativity into the design. Just sewing a holiday button on the apron is not okay. Put some love in it. Open to newbies with at least 3 crafting swaps under their belts. Not open to Flakey Flakers From Flaketown (you know who you are). I will check profiles and ratings. I will Angel anyone who gets flaked on. No recent 1's or 3's, please. Please rate each other as well. PM me or leave comments with any questions. Make and send an apron you would like to wear. Have fun...Be nice. Be creative!

Is this senders choice or would we have to make the style a partner requests?

MrsRemington 09/15/2011 #

I'd say, create a nice apron for your partner. If they have a definate idea about what they would like...check back here in the comments. If they don't...then create a pleasing apron and send it off to your partner. Thank you for asking.

Yeah! Finally an apron swap! I don't have any preference other than I'm not a fan of the flat aprons. Got one once that was a simple square with ties. Don't care about the colors or the theme. Don't care if it's a half or a full .. just not the flat square with ties. Thanks for starting the swap!

LUV aprons! Can wait to get started ;-)

LINBUR0100 09/28/2011 #

Do they have to be made from scratch, or can we start with a semi-plain purchased apron and "alter" it? I was at an event this weekend where the coordinator had altered a plain black apron with tons of embellies. It was absolutely adorable! I am not much of a sew-ist, but I adore aprons, and could "alter" the heck out of one if that would meet the requirements.

Thanks!

I think an altered apron is fine. I've seen some amazing aprons that start with one of the "pre-made" and then embelished and they are real works of art.

Yay! Thank you Deedee (i.e. MrsRemington). I am very excited about this swap!

LINBUR0100 09/30/2011 #

To my partner: I am a larger lady, so the only preference I have to my apron is please make it one with nice long ties. If it happens to also be a nice wide front, that's even better, but the long ties are a must. :-)

I LOVE aprons! I have done an apron swap and loved it. Here is the link of a picture of the apron I made on my blog.

I love any aprons. My taste is very much on the feminine side. I love ruffles, bowes and lace. I am not picky though. I usually like anything. ;)

Hi Everyone...awesome information! Yes if you have a preferance or size or whatever...please leave a comment here or when partners are assigned...PM or check profiles. I really want this to be a joyous happy fabulous swap for all. Thank you!

I love fancy, girly, retro-ish aprons. I am so excited to do this. Can't wait to get this started! Only thing is, I wear mine...please make sure it's washable, and the embellishments aren't going to pop off after a trip thru the washer. Pockets are a plus, too...as are longer ties.

prettypinkpins 10/10/2011 #

I agree Whitney! I wear an apron EVERY day. Mine must be able to be washed MULTIPLE times! Prefer not to have a hostess apron. I need something very durable! I'm so excited. Can't wait for next Monday!

LINBUR - I made a apron from a man's shirt. Quick, easy and super cheap! I gave it away in another apron swap, but loved it so much I made myself one from another shirt I found. He's the instructions on my blog .. scroll down .. it's the second post. http://prettypinkpins.blogspot.com/

LINBUR0100 10/12/2011 #

Thanks for the suggestion Prettypinkpins. I love the tutorial!

I also wear my aprons, so they MUST be washable. Don't get me wrong; hostess aprons are adorable, but I usually do all my cooking BEFORE the guests get there, so anything I do when they're there is just gravy and I don't need an apron for that. I will be perfectly okay if I do get a hostess apron from this swap (as long as it has long ties; I got plenty of cushion...), but will be just as happy with a utilitarian apron that i can use every day. :-)

I'm dreaming of a red, white, turquoise kitchen, so an apron in that color scheme would be very nice. However, that scheme is still a dream, I only have one pot holder in those colors at the moment, so it's not as if something different would clash with my perfectly color coordinated kitchen ;-). Other loves: bright and graphic, vintage, ruffles, romantic flower prints, Kaffe Fassett, Amy Butler, African fabrics. If I could chose I would prefer a more tailored apron rather than just a flat piece of cotton with ties. But anything made with love will be cherished and used (so washable, please!)

I can't wait to get my partner!

ssshauna 10/18/2011 #

any kind of apron will work for me! I love classic colours and patterns, and tend to stay away from girlie cutesie stuff (unless it's got some ironic tinge to it.) But who ever is making for me: just have fun with it! Do what you love!

I'm in the longer ties camp. I usually make my aprons large or XL. I'm on Weight Watchers so a large is starting to work.

Love Christmas fabrics and Santa. Just puttin' that in here.

alwayzbakin 10/19/2011 #

Okay. I love girly, vintage looking Christmas fabric. Santas, reindeer, kids opening presents, anything. I don't have a Christmas apron but I would love ANY kind. I'm really not picky and would love anything.

Saartje 10/27/2011 #

I've had a blast with this swap so far! I'd pre-made an apron in bright vintage fabrics, but my partner is more a subtle color palet person, so I'm making a second apron now. This swap has been a great creativity booster. I really love making something profile based, on commission as it were.

prettypinkpins 10/31/2011 #

My apron is done .. even put a surprise in my package! I know today is mail day, but I won't be able to make it to the post office today (working late). Will be mailing tomorrow.
