Okay...so I read all about Decos and it sounds so cool. Then I read swaps for them and they say swapping established books, send to 3 partners or send 5-yikes!! What about those of us newbies that would like to try a Deco book, but are new to making them and don't have a stash of them to send? What if we are scared to start, afraid we will let down an established partner? Well, here's a chance for us to start! For this swap, you will make 1 Deco book and send it to 1 partner. (Partners, please try and send the Deco on after you decorate your page so it doesn't just sit and collect dust. If you would like to be considered for getting books after we get going, place a comment in the comment section, stating that you would like to help keep these on the move so others in the swap can contact you). The Deco theme is up to the maker. Easy right? Established Deco swappers are welcome, just understand you will likely get a partner that is brand new at this type of swap. Be gentle ;) Please everyone, rate according to time invested and the courage to try something new, not just what you like or don't like, remember each of us is making a book that will eventually end up back with its creator. Here is the glossary description of a Deco and Friendship book- Decos – A deco is similar to a friendship book and there are a wide variety of types. It is a bound book of pages which are sent around the world. The person that the book is “for†is usually listed on the cover and when the book becomes full it is sent back to them. Each person that receives and signs the deco will decorate one page according to the theme of the booklet (if there is one) and put their postal/email address and sign their name. Typically, each entrant in the “deco†must use one full page to express themselves. Glitter, sequins, feathers and other scrapbooking supplies are frequently used in “decos.†Despite the artistic expressions used in these types of friendship books, the basic rules of passing the friendship book to person to person is the same. Friendship Book (FB) - A booklet that is passed via the mail from person to person. It includes addresses of all the signers and is intended for the recipient to find new penpals and/or swap partners. It is generally made of a few pages of paper (any size, but usually made to fit in a standard size envelope) stapled together. The cover or front page includes who made the booklet (complete with name and address) and who the booklet was made for (complete with name and address). The rest of the booklet is reserved for the “signers.†The person who signs the last available space then sends the booklet back home to the person the booklet was made for. I hope this sounds like fun and we get a new group of Deco makers! Please try and make your book as creative as you can and remember, it will be back to you in the future, so it is a good idea to make it beautiful and durable. Don't forget your address in the front or the address of who you would like it sent to when it is done. Please make your theme easy to understand or send a note to your partner with your Deco. Any other questions, please PM me. For swappers of 4.9 or higher rating and no recent 1's or 3's. Newbies welcome! I have given lots of time to make this swap, so you can have the time to learn, invest into your Deco, and still enjoy the holidays! |
