Description: | |
There are all sorts of obscure holidays each month that many people don't know about. I thought this would be a fun way to celebrate those! What to Do Go to THIS SITE and choose any of the holidays on the list except those that are well-known (we are looking for obscure things to celebrate). You can choose a monthly, weekly, or daily one. It doesn't matter. ("Well-known" in this case means Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Yule, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve). Then, you'll create something to represent your chosen holiday and you'll send it to your partner along with a short note telling your partner what your chosen holiday is and what date it is (if it's monthly just say it is the month of November, weekly tell which week, and daily tell the date). By "something", I mean anything, as long as it is hand-made by you and it took some time to complete. I think if the item takes you 30 minutes or longer, it will be acceptable. ATC's and hand-made postcards are allowed, but please don't just slap a few stickers on these and say they're your best work. We're all at different levels of experience and ability in our crafts, but please send something you'd be happy to receive. ATC requirements - if you choose to make an ATC for this swap, no using only stickers. You may make a collage and use stickers in that, but it can't be all stickers. Some cut-outs, embellishments, hand-drawing, rubber stamping, painting, something other than stickers must be present on the card. Postcard requirements - if you choose to create postcards for this swap, you must send a minimum of 3 postcards and they must be sent in an envie so that your partner can use them. You can either make all three postcards representing the same holiday or you can make them represent different holidays. And just like the ATC requirements above, no using only stickers. You can use some stickers, but you must use another medium as well. Everything else - whatever you choose to send, please spend time on this and put thought into it. Knitted items, crocheted, papercrafting, everything is allowed and as long as they meet all posted requirements, this is considered sender's choice, so please realize that you may receive something that you can't use or don't collect. You can always re-swap those items. Postage - So that we know this is fair (given the different items we could all send), the postage on this swap should cost more than one stamp. If it's only costing you one stamp, you know you need to send something else (or something more). The reason for the postage requirement is to keep it fair. The postage requirement will still apply, so perhaps an ATC that is heavily embellished (I sometimes use buttons, brads, etc and can make quite heavy ATCs) or perhaps making 2 ATCs for this swap? I know I am trying to make sure that if someone sends a knitted item they don't receive something that took 5 minutes to do. Or perhaps you could make one ATC and something else? If you have any questions, ask here or PM me. Partners You'll have one partner. This is a USA only swap. Requirements To Join
If you want to make an international version, feel free. Just please link to this swap in your description to give credit. Note that if you flake on this swap, you will no longer be allowed in any of my future swaps, you will be listed in the Flakers group, and you'll be listed on my profile for banned participants. Please do not PM me asking me to make an exception on the rating requirements. I set the requirements and I have to stick to them. If I make an exception for one person, I should make an exception for everyone. I will attempt to angel if anyone does get flaked on, but it may take a little while due to this being during the holidays. Be sure you have enough time to put into this before you join! |
