INTERNATIONAL SWAP & PENPALLISHNESS! :D
ROUND #2.
Open to those with at least a 4.3 rating. Newbies with a completed profile can join too, but please contact me first! I'll be checking profiles shortly before the start of this "swap", so dodgy swappers can hopefully be weeded out.
This is a "swap" for those of us looking to get into penpalling (whether you've done it before, are just getting into it or wish to add some more penpals to your list), but want to do so gradually! :)
This is how it works:
Each participant will get 1 partner (that I will be assigning if I'm not too busy before the swap date).
To this partner you'll write a letter. You must choose at least 5 of the questions I've typed below to answer in your letter, besides that your letter can be however long or short you'd like to make it (it's good to start with a short-ish one, but nobody would object to a long, interesting one!).
You can write about whatever you'de like (within reason, of course..). Check out their profile for ideas!
Include 2 little gifts that you think your partner will like.
Again, a look at your partners profile for ideas on what they like.
Send the letter & gifts!
When you receive your letter from the person who had you assigned to them, reply to it with a letter & perhaps some goodies! :D
If everyone follows these steps, you'll each have 2 new penpals in no time!
The questions (choose any 5 to answer):
- What food do you find 'difficult' to eat?
- What do you secretly collect, that few know you do?
- What's the strangest thing you've found washed up on the beach?
- Which celebrity are you totally sick of seeing/hearing about?
- Do you follow or play any sports?
- Which mythical creature or being do you most wish existed & what would you do if you came across it?
- What are the best things about where you live (your home, your town, your country)?
- What's your favourite species of bird & why?
- If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where whould you go to, what would you like to see there & what souvenirs would you bring back?
- Which celebrity did you once have a crush on that makes you cringe now?
- What recent achievement of yours are you most proud of?
- What or who truly inspires you & why?
- Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar? :P
- Which movie that you've seen in the [distant] past most sticks in your mind (one that you find very memorable)?
- What's the color of happiness & why?
And now for some penpalling tips:
It's always nice to write on pretty paper, and it looks good too!
If you have time, consider decorating the letter with stickers, stamps, glitter or doodles! Fun!
Questions are a great idea if you're feeling curious or need an excuse to make letters longer. Ask them & answer them & don't skimp on the details! :)
The best and most eagerly awaited letters are always those that have afew little goodies stuffed in there! Some ideas are sticker sheets, letter sets, letter paper, photos ~ the sky's the limit! Don't send too much until you've established some trust with your penpal though!
Don't be afraid to discuss whatever issues are brought up in letters - you'll find it helps to get to know your pal on a much deeper level and can be extremely interesting. However, be tolerant of your partners views and avoid breaching topics that may upset or cause discomfort.
Less is RARELY more in the world of letter writing! Long letters are love! With that in mind, that doesn't mean raving on about the same topic for pages and pages, even if the topic IS what your favourite celeb has on under their clothes. :P
The former could be disreguarded if you BOTH happen to be extremely interested in the topic.. heehee.. :D
And that's it!! Happy Penpalling!
If anyone is interested..
When I used to penpal there was one girl whom I used to write really long letters to ~ on the back of each page I used to stick pictures of my favourite music group and make up funny captions & such. We both did that on every letter & it was a very fun & memorable experience! Quite time consuming though!
SORRY FOR THE HUGE AMOUNT OF TEXT! XD
