Description:

Let's Play "Wheel Of Fortune" with tea bags! Category? Mystery Message!

Send your partner a mystery message in teabags!

One teabag represents each letter of your message.

Circle the letter on your teabag (remember Sharpies can soak thru to the tea - so if wrapped in paper, no Sharpies!)

Mix the teabags up so they're not in order.

Include a note telling your partner how many words are in your message, and how many letters are in each word, as a clue for them.

You may use up to 1 "wild card" per word. "Wild cards" are blanks, meaning letters which you cannot find anywhere on any of your teabags. Include a teabag for these letters, but put an X in the top corner so your partner will know it's a blank and they have to guess the letter.

For example, if your message to your partner is "Enjoy Your Tea", you must

  1. Send 12 teabags because there are 12 letters in the message.
  2. Tell your partner "this message is 3 words - 5 letters + 4 letters + 3 letters"
  3. Circle an "E" on the first teabag, an "N" on the second, then if you can't find a "J", put in a teabag with an X written on the corner so they'll know they have to guess that letter, then circle an "O" and a "Y" on the next two teabags. Repeat for all words.
  4. Remember you can only use 1 "blank" letter per word.
  5. Please use a language which your partner is fluent in. If two from Germany want to spell it out in German, that's ok. But don't send to me in German, it's going to be difficult enough for me to figure it out as it is!
  6. When you receive your tea, figure out the message and let your partner know what it says to see if you are correct! If you can't figure it out, you may ask for another hint.
  7. Perhaps we can run a thread where everyone posts what their message was once the swap is over?

Your message must be at least 2 words. Other than that, there's no minimum/maximum. You will probably not receive the same number of teabags you send out. If that's a problem for you, then please don't play this time. The fun is in the message, not how many teabags you get.

OK, so it's not exactly Wheel of Fortune, and you don't win any money. But you do get to drink tea, play a puzzle, and get a greeting from a friend!

Feel free to ask questions below as I'm sure I've forgotten to address something!

I received a gift like this once. I got an envelope with a bunch of little letters in it. I had to put the letters together to find out the name of the big gift I was receiving!

I'd be curious to read what kind of messages others have made!
