Question! I assume the tissue paper after the technique will be very fragile... How am I supposed to glue it on the ATC back? Have you tried it? or have any ideas?

Moosecastle 12/17/2011 #

I have not tried it yet - but from the tutorial I think it gets a bit stiff when it dries with the heat gun. I will post when I find out:D

melimar 12/17/2011 #

I found out, doing my first pendant with the technique! it becomes stiff... you can use crystal clear glue (atlacol)... works perfect... tho i need some colours in jars!

melimar 12/18/2011 #

One more question... Do we have to decorate inchies twincies? Or leave them Washi plain?

Moosecastle 12/19/2011 #

The washi is a background - so yes it should be decorated:).

And nice that you have tried it out already - and that my theory was right:D

MichelleWillow 12/20/2011 #

Um... have a slight problem! Apparently I don't have any tissue paper or where to buy it! :( So, this is on watch list until I find some...

melimar 12/20/2011 #

Tissue paper? I guess it is the one you blow your nose with... Before doing it! :D Isn't it??

Moosecastle 12/21/2011 #

@melimar - you are correct. Definitely before blowing it!!! :D

@MichelleWillow - like Kleenex.

MichelleWillow 12/21/2011 #

Oh, and not the one you use for packaging?

Moosecastle 12/22/2011 #

That is called tissue paper as well I think. The Danish word translated is silk paper for the wrapping kind.

But here it's tissue as in Kleenex:)

ktdragonfly 12/28/2011 #

ooh, you "english as a second language" people are too cute. i'm still trying to figure out if I can do this. Is this what you are looking for?

It's not done with ink (I don't have any) but with watercolor on blowfree tissue. :) Actually, I did it with what I call tissue paper, the kind for packaging. The other (kleenex) is just tissue (example: Can you hand me a tissue for my sneeze please)

ktdragonfly 12/28/2011 #

And by cute, I mean genius. If you all are trying to determine the correct translations for tissue paper, then you are really really advanced in English. Congratulations. I can only dream to be that advanced in Spanish!

melimar 12/29/2011 #

@ktdragonfly hahaha! Yes indeed we are cute! :P You should see me do the I-will-explain-to-you-the-word-if-you-want-to-listen! :P And I did it with Kleenex which works pretty fine!

Moosecastle 12/29/2011 #

As both tissue and tissue paper seems to work equally fine they are both acceptable.

And @ktdragonfly : please feel free to laugh at us "english as second language people" - we laugh at you americans all the time ;):P:D

ktdragonfly 12/31/2011 #

I fully recognize that as a group, Americans can easily be laughed at. Have you seen the pool of Rupublican candidates? They are like cast members of a cartoon show.
But you didn't answer my question...take a look at the link and let me know if this is what might be considered a faux washi...maybe more color on the tissue?

MichelleWillow 01/ 1/2012 #

What does mean: "Blast the tissue paper with a heat gun to dry them."? What exactly we do here with heat gun? And can those sheets dry naturally?

MichelleWillow 01/ 1/2012 #

I just let it dry naturally. It takes longer (app. 2 hours) but I think it's OK.

Moosecastle 01/ 1/2012 #

@ktdragonfly :I did indeed answer your question by accepting both kind of tissue materials in the swap :P.

Good to know they can dry fine without heat gun! Guess it's more for the convenience of being able to use the faux washi quicker:)

Moosecastle 01/ 1/2012 #

I am moving both sign-up and send deadline with 1 week:)

melimar 01/ 2/2012 #

aww no... why? I was so looking forword to this one! Can't wait to send my not-really-professional creations to the poor... I mean DEAR partner of mine! :D

ktdragonfly 01/ 3/2012 #

Very well then, I'm in!

Moosecastle 01/ 3/2012 #

@melimar : cause the host has yet to try out the technique... :D

@ktdragonfly cool!!!

MichelleWillow 01/ 4/2012 #

Backgrounds are done and waiting. ;) I'll join after I make some space on my dashboard LOL

Moosecastle 01/ 5/2012 #

Mine as well - now for the inspiration on what to put on them... :D

Please all remember that this is about trying (not mastering) a technique - and we're doing it out of curiosity and to have fun! So no performance anxiety necessary;)

MichelleWillow 01/ 6/2012 #

has anyone tried to stamp them? Does the ink remains clear?

PS. I had to skip that golden shimmer part. Don't have gold ink. Is that OK?

Moosecastle 01/ 6/2012 #

I'll try stamping some of mine - and I havent done the gold part either, so it's ok:D

Moosecastle 01/ 7/2012 #

Im all done:) - they are on my flickr
