Description:

Ok for this swap you will have 2 partners. You must cram an ordinary sized envelope full of background papers for atcs. These papers have to be at least atc size. Nothing smaller. That is 2.5 inches by 3.5inches in size. They can be bigger if you like. Try to cram as much as you can in your envelopes. Also try to give your partners various backgrounds. A good variety in other words. I am not going to set an amount of backgrounds - just cram heaps in. This is an International swap. Open to everyone. I say everyone.... but newbies must have a completed profile. Everyone else I will be checking all profiles and if I think you may be a flaker I will ban you before I assign partners. Okay everyone get cramming coz you have heaps of time to prepare your envelopes.

What size is an ordinary envelope?

Bluebird 01/19/2008 #

An ordinary evelope is aproximately 11cm x 22cm that ia about 4.5 inches x 8.5 inches. You can use a slightly smaller envelope or a slightly bigger envelope if you like. I was just using a business size envelope as an example.

You said background papers, does that mean card stock or any type paper that can be glued to card stock?

Bluebird 01/20/2008 #

i mean any kind of paper that you can glue to the cardstock. Cardstock is ok if it is paterned.

Thanks for clarifying that for me.

could some of you give some ideas of what types of background papers you might be looking for that would be acceptable. I know scrapbook paper is okay because of the many patterns but I would like to broaden this and I do have some ideas but being fairly new I want to be sure I am on the right track with what some of you would consider nice or unique backgrounds. Thanks

I find my background paper everywhere. I use scrapbooking paper. Handmade papers are good. I have used embossed writing paper, tissue boxes, heaps of things are good. I actually buy packets of scrap paper in the craft section of k-mart (don't know what this kind of store is called in america) It has all kinds of pieces of patterned scrap paper in it. I also use wrapping or gift paper and even napkins. Hope this helps a bit.

It does help and I had some ideas in mind but I just wanted to make sure I was thinking along the right track. I do have some ideas in mind and I have been scouring books for some ideas as well. I don't want to scare my partners by my question so I am doing alot of homework for this one.

Is it also ok to include some handmade backgrounds? I like making backgrounds and usually have a bunch waiting to be used in my ATCs.

Bluebird 01/29/2008 #

Yes handmade backgrounds may be included. I love handmade backgrounds.

Another good background source are folders (like the ones they use in schools) A lot of them have nice prints and textures. Also if you can find the fancy printed manila type folders on sale (otherwise they are expensive) they also make good backgrounds.
