Hi I'm still kind of new here, could you please tell me what a Deco is? I keep seeing it everywhere on here, but have no clue what it is, could you please help?

Hi Porsha, You can find a description of it here: http://www.squidoo.com/Deco-friendship-book It is a little book with 4 to 8 pages typically, and a decorated cover. It is made for a person and has contact info, who made it/when and any theme they want it in. This book is then sent to people and they decorate a page in your requested theme. (if there is a theme, sometimes there isn't one! you could then decorate it anyway you want!) Hopefully, after every page is kindly decorated by a stranger, somebody send its home to it's maker and they have a little souvenir that's been all around the world!

Decos are part of the mail art phenomena. I was doing deco's back in 1979. I have joined this swap and resurrected my very own invention of the MAIL ART STYLE DECO which - when I complete them - will be scanned and housed at my website (refer to my profile). The full deco when its returned will be show-cased there as well. These deco's are challenging in that pure flat art meaning no embelishments glitter etc or taping over your art. Tahts a non-no Players art will be restricted to using found paper objects, rubber stamps drawing etc. I usually send a gift to the kind returner. The deco book is made up of old First Day Postal covers which each player will decorate using the first day cover as inspiration meaning (for example) a blue postage stamp was used so perhaps your theme will be blue and so on. The First Day Covers have no intrinsic value hence the reason for their use.
