Description:

For 2012, I am hosting a mandala series, one a month for the year. Join in on all or one: it's up to you.

In order to possibly bind the mandalas into a year-book, please make the format 7" X 6" sturdy paper. Make the mandala on the rightmost 6" X 6" area, leaving the leftmost inch as the area to bind it into a book. Please use sturdy, at least 65# paper (at least cardstock weight). You may draw, paint, collage, zentangle your mandala. For beginners, the swap 'homepage' link is to a wonderful YouTube video, 'How to Grow a Mandala'.

Open to all with a 4.90 or above rating, unrated newbies please pm me first. I reserve the right to ban at my discretion.

I will angel but I hope it will not be necessary.

I found out that cardstock is a 65# paper, so edited the weight on the requirements.

Actually cardstock is between 50#-110#: let's keep it 65# or above.

sagesparrow 01/13/2012 #

Oh how picky I am being!!!

charophyta 01/14/2012 #

65 or 67 is the lighter cardstock. 110 is what index cards are made from. Regular copy paper is 20, and better quality printer paper is 22 or 24.

for non inchie swappers ;) european swappers who are using the metric system...

  • 17,8 cm x 15,2 cm (2,6 cm leftover on the left side)

what is the weight about? what means that #? are these in drams? (the only one i could found)

sagesparrow 01/18/2012 #

The weight is in pounds # -- but I don't know how paper is graded in Europe. charophyta has it right -- we want at least a cardstock weight. The point really is not flimsy paper.

angdrumm 01/19/2012 #

If I read it right the chart on this page http://www.thepapermillstore.com/paper-weights states that 65lb is equivalent to 176gms, hope this helps

OK everyone, don't worry too much about exact weight (although it's interesting, I'm learning a lot about paper). The point is that the paper should be sturdy and stiff -- at least a cardstock weight.

And angdrumm! That site is a wonderful resource! Thanks for posting.
