Description:

Create one collage postcard for one partner using ephemera from your day-to-day life. Things like receipts, ticket stubs, labels, packaging, newspaper clippings, expired coupons, take-out menus, used stamps, junk mail, post-it notes from work (no sensitive info), shopping lists, found papers - any bits that usually end up getting tossed after a short period of time. You can use older ephemera, as long as it's authentic (no printed clip-art images or repro stuff).

You may also use additional elements and images, but the majority of the collage needs to be composed of actual day-to-day ephemera.

The Rules:

  • The size (and shape) of the postcard is up to you. Minimum requirements are 3½" high by 5" long.
  • Your postcard needs to be original work; no photocopies or reprints.
  • Use a sturdy base, i.e. bristol or watercolor paper, recycled cardboard, chipboard, etc.
  • Feel free to add mixed media elements to your collage, e.g. paint, drawing, ink.
  • Once your postcard is complete, you will send it to your partner, naked and stamped. Don't forget to put your username & swap name on the back of your postcard. A nice note, greeting or quote to your partner would be great, too :)

Have fun! If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments, or send me a PM.
