For this swap you will have one partner ( this is an international swap). You will send your partner one small size matchbox ( 1-1/4" wide x 2" long x 7/16" deep) that has been decorated in a witchy or pagan theme. Then you must fill it with witchy or pagan stuff! The matchbox can either be a real matchbox ( the little pocket size ones) that you take the matches out of and decorate, or you can make it yourself with this handy template: I like to make them myself ( it really easy!), but sometimes a cool vintage matchbook with some decoration added to it ( instead of totally covering it up) can look really wonderful too. I also found this chick on etsy selling little blank ones if you don't want to use the real ones, or make your own: So what can you fit inside a teeny tiny matchbox anyway? I like to pretend I am making a care package for a tiny witch that lives in a mushroom! Just like the picture I used here, I like to put an assortment of teeny tiny magical items, as opposed to just one thing. I love the dividers, but those are sorta difficult to make, so you can either do something like that or just pack everything inside neat and tidy so it looks pretty when you open it up. Here are some ideas:
And what about the outside: The outside should reflect the way you feel about your "craft". Nature based themes are great, and you can always incorporate pieces of nature as well. Try building a tiny mosaic out of moss and bark, or itty bitty seeds! You could make a tiny painting or drawing on it if that is more your style. Or make a drawing then make a border with seeds, or pebbles. Other items like beads, cabochons, and lace make great establishments as well. A writer? Perhaps covering the box in elegantly written witchy poetry on faded parchment would be nice. The sky is the limit, but I think as with any swap you should send what you would like to receive. You should spend a little extra time creating it, and really putting some good energy into the project. The idea is not to print out a picture, glue it on, and dump some old dried herbs inside....that would be bad. Really put some care into it. Make something your partner will covet for years to come. Because I want you guys to put some extra time into making it this is not a profile swap. This means that you can start working on it as soon as you sign up. This also means that you get what you get. It will be witchy and/or pagan themed, and there are no requests as to what you get. If you are bummed out by this, please comment and let me know and I will do another one for folks who want a more specific theme, or who want it to be profile based. Happy Swapping.
