Description:

So, what is stationary stationery? and how do we do it?

For this swap, you will have 1 partner, and you are to, go to a place in your free time where you can be stationary!

Places where you would be standing or sitting still include:

  • public transport
  • cafe table
  • waiting for a bus
  • waiting for a train
  • waiting to meet somebody off a bus or train
  • standing by a window (this suggestion is for those who may have trouble getting out and about for what ever reason)
  • a rest point on a long walk or hike

and while you are at your location, being stationary, I want you to...whip out your stationary! and write down three thoughts you are having about what you can see in front of you. If possible you could also take a picture of what you can see (but as photography is frowned upon in certain places, this is an extra, not an important part of the swap) you should also collect something from the place where you are being stationary, so it could be a ticket stub you find while at the bus stop or train station, a flyer for the cafe you were in, a feather from the rest point etc.

we, as people rarely stop to take in fully what is around us, and admire the view, so for those 5 minutes that you have stopped for, share those 5 mins with your partner.

so, you will have 1 partner, send them:

  • 1 note saying where you are and your three thoughts about what you can see.
  • a photograph of what you can see (photos may be emailed if you don't have availability of a printer or would cost too much to have a single shot printed from your sd card) - don't break the law by taking a picture inside somewhere illegal, like a court room, a bank, post office etc.
  • an item collected from your location

sender's choice!

NB. if you have chosen your window view as you are unable to leave the house to do the swap, you must send a photo of your view or a small sketch / drawing of it in place of an item collected there.

Quite a lovely idea. A bit weird one, but lovely. ;D Will probably join later.

thanks! i like to think outside the box sometimes. obviously it's a swap you can prepare in advance, don't have to wait for partners before you have a go. then if you don't like it or want to do it twice (for your own journals and the swap) you can do :)

I just noticed a blooper, you say at one point a photo is not necessary, but then state it is.... I love the idea, but cannot always get a photo printed.

It says photos may be emailed, so then you don't have to pay to get it printed. read the swap properly. Not a Blooper!
