Since everyone has their special talents, I have decided to create a swap where those talents can be displayed. For this swap we will trade a piece of our favorite art style with the partners. The theme will be your favorite: Myths. Any myth from anywhere in the world. I look forward to expanding on my love of mythology.

So, to make this easier. You will create something, representing a favorite myth or myth related story, in whichever art style you wish. There can be anything from drawings, ATC's, plushies, inchies, twinchies, skinnies, postcards, paintings, letters, mini-zines, or any other style I haven't named. Please follow Swap-Bot guidelines when creating your projects. And remember to rate your partner in accordance with Swap-Bot rules and regulations.

Would Robin Hood or King Arthur be myths or is that more folklore/legend?

papermoon 03/ 8/2012 #

@Halogen I think technically those are folklore/legend... Think of mythology more in terms of religion--

"myth is defined as a sacred narrative explaining how the world and humankind came to be in their present form"

There are a lot of similarities between folktales/legends and myths but I guess the biggest difference is that myths were at one point (or are) considered truth by whatever given culture, whereas folktales/legends are understood as universal concepts that could be explained in any time/place, and aren't sacred.

Does that help explain the difference? I'm not so great with words today. :)

Thanks, that makes sense. I think I've just heard people use the words interchangeably too often so it gets confusing. I'll just go with some Greek Mythology, since that has the name myth in it :)

Thanks @Papermoon I don't believe I could have explained that any better than you did.

@Fallengeek74 I blame college ;)

Glad it made sense!
