Publisher's Weekly does a wonderful series of essays with authors called Why I Write.There are 36 essays posted as of April 7 by authors of all types. They date from 2009 to March 2012. For this swap, go browse the site, read several that call to you, then craft your own Why I Write essay. Tell two partners about the essays you read at the PW site and what you gleaned from them, and send a copy of your own Why I Write essay.
