I think we are 'separated by a common language' as someone famous once said. In the UK a sham is something fake. Is that what you mean?

A sham is indeed something fake, even in the United States. However, the other meaning is a pillow sham, which is a fancy pillow case, something that usually matches a bedding set in this country. For the purposes of this swap, however, it can be any colors.

Wow! Great answer! The tute is really good, but you maay choose to tweak the blocks!

Gah!~Don't leave this swap until the last minute! I just finished my shams (I made the pair since the instructions are for two, and it's about the same amount of work in cutting, which is a big part of this pattern). There is a LOT of piecing here! And the pinwheel blocks do call for accuracy! Mine did come out nice, but it is a labor-intensive project! I would not recommend this pattern for a beginner, even a confident one, having done it! But they do come out nice if you take your time. Leave yourself at least a weekend to work on this pattern, unless you are a FAST quilter.
