The faire is coming to town! Come one, come all but don't ignore the call! Note: Please read over this swap carefully, it's not complicated I just like to explain everything with as much detail as I can, but make sure you read all the criteria before signing up. This is the eighth in what will be a series of swaps based on the old traveling faires. Whether gypsies, a troupe of entertainers or players, whatever names they were called by, they would set up tents just on the outskirts of town and sell their wares, read fortunes, play instruments, and entertain! They would also sell things for the children, potions to cure aliments, weapons, jewelry and so much more. Just a simple faire but something new and exciting nonetheless! Your experience continues here... After finding the most intriguing book and the time to drink some ale and browse through it for awhile, you realise that you need to write home! Afterall, you are now in a travelling actors troupe, reading new and strange books, why this faire has changed your life and no one even knows about all these wondrous developments. Time to find the paper maker! It's not long before you find her stall, after inquiring from a few good folk, you are directed to a stall set up just off to left of the group of merchant tents. Here, there are beautiful papers and inks, some still laying out to dry, others being cut to size for use as stationary, or invitations, or even scrolls. What kind of paper to choose to write down big news? Will you send one to your love? Your family, perhaps? That dear friend, is your new decision to ponder! This will be a simple swap. For this swap you will send your partner some stationary, note cards, or maybe even a scroll. You will send a letter from you and you will send them a blank set for them to use later. You will send a message on one of these paper styles either a letter, a note card or scroll, telling your partner a little about yourself and why you selected this particular type of paper for them. Then you will send them some "medieval" stationary for them to use later. This stationary can be store bought or handmade. As for the set you will send your partner for them to use, please include at least three sheets of paper and envelopes for the letter set and at least three note cards with envelopes. For the scroll, if it is a large one, you may send one as it would be a bit more difficult to make an actual long piece of scroll paper. If you are sending smaller scrolls, include at least two. Also, if you send a scroll, please include a bit of ribbon to tie around the scroll or some way to secure the scroll once it's rolled up. Please put some thought into it, even if you buy the paper instead of making it yourself, you could always tea stain it to make it look older, add some beautiful art or stamps around the edges in a medieval style. Just make it something unique and beautiful, that you would be proud to send. If you choose to make your own paper, well you are much cooler than I am, but you can really get creative and most likely make something comparable to what they had back then. That would be awesome, if you have that skill. For those of us who do not though, do your best, you can still be very creative. For those of you who wish to go the extra mile, and there are many of you, you may wish to include a bottle of ink (please be careful in packaging this for shipping), a quill pen, or perhaps a seal and some sealing wax for your partner to use. There are many things and many ways to make your swap extra special, if you choose to do so these are just some suggestions for you to think upon. I hope many of you will join this swap, you should receive some amazing stationary to use and learn more about your partner! I also hope many of you will have fun playing around with ideas or maybe even try making your own paper for some really fun stationary! This is a group swap so everyone should be trustworthy and should have the minimum rating of 4.9, which is the group requirement. I will say this now - if you flake on a group swap you will be dropped from the group. Also, if you are going to be late even by a day please pm your partner to let them know it's just common courtesy...I understand life happens! I will allow plenty of time to research/craft/complete as I know life can be a bit hectic. Any questions or comments, please leave them below or pm me. Have fun with this and let us entertain each other as there is still plenty more faire to enjoy! |
