Description:

I've just discovered Zentangles, and love making inchies, so this swap combines the two.

Inchies are 1" square. You can get punches that cut them out accurately or cut your own. Zentangles are random doodles traditionally in black pen on white paper.

For this swap we will make black and white zentangle inchies. Make 10 inchies for each partner - 20 inchies in total. This might seem a lot but once you've got going, you'll get addicted and get them done in no time.

Please use thin white cardstock as this is best for sturdiness and the black ink won't show through. I use up all my Christmas card backs like this.

Please make this your best work and send inchies that you would be pleased to receive yourself.

International. Swappers with ratings over 4.8 only, and if you do not plan on sending or on rating, please do not sign up. I will be checking profiles before assigning partners.

That's about it - have fun everyone!

I've made a few inchies but the color seem to show through the back. Do I really have to use thicker paper? =) Sorry am new at both inchies and zentangles. =) Thanks.

missychrissy 03/ 3/2008 #

Yes, just stick the inchie onto thicker paper or thin card, it helps keep them sturdier too. Don't forget to put your name on the back somewhere too, we need to know who the artist is!

Thanks, missychrissy!

Blurg 03/ 4/2008 #

i'd like to make each inchie of a different pattern so it's a sort of zentangle inspiration card. is that ok?

Blurg 03/ 4/2008 #

Hi all. I just made a group for zentangles. I'm not sure how to add people into the group, but come join. Click on find groups, and search for zentangle.

i think groups are a new feature, so we can explore what we can create in the group forum... thx.

missychrissy 03/ 4/2008 #

Yes, that's fine Blurg. Do what you fancy! Personally I'm going to attach mine to an ATC size card as it will be easier for posting. I like that idea of an inspiration board. Sounds like something I need!!

PS;.... I've applied to join your Zentangle group. I think you'll probably get messages saying something about pending members and will probably have to press a button or two! But I'll be with you!

I've got all 20 inchies ready! So excited. =) I'd love to join the group too.

oh good grief- they are addictive. I cranked several out during my daughter's violin lesson...I've started walking around with little card squares in my pocketses and a black pen behind my ear...

missychrissy 03/12/2008 #

LOL! yes, they do get addictive don't they, and because they don't take long you do get quite a few done. What I'm doing now is to do a big one on a piece of card, and then use my 1" square punch to punch them out. Each one is different then and it saves having to try and doodle on a 1" square, which is not easy!

Sorry, big financial meltdown - who'd own a house? Having to cut back on swaps over the next few months, so unfortunately dropping out. Just wanted to make sure you knew it wasn't a swap/personal thing x

missychrissy 03/14/2008 #

That's a shame Incey, maybe next time? I'm sure I'll do another one of these in a couple of months.
