Our first altered playing card swaps - fun! :) Search for 'altered playing card' on Flickr for inspiration - so many gorgeous creations out there!

For this swap, you will send your partner TWO APCs - the Ace of Hearts and the Ace of Spades.

Please try to use standard poker-sized playing cards. (I found mine at the dollar store.) As long as they are close to that size, good enough. ;) Since they are coated, you should probably lightly sand the surface to allow adhesives to stick well. (I don't sand over the suits on the corners since they aren't covered, but I sand the rest to get rid of the coating.)

Be sure to leave at least one of the two suit corners uncovered.

Theme and medium are up to you. Have fun with the process, but PLEASE send something that you're proud to sign your name to and would love to receive! (No sticker-slapping! If you're going to use stickers, they should not be the main element and should be used tastefully, please.)

Be sure to include your info on the back of the card. (Your name, swap-bot username, name of the card if there is one, date, etc. I put my location too, but that bit is optional - I think it's neat to flip through your collection and see how far some of your cards have traveled to get to you!) And of course, don't forget to rate your partner!

I -will- be checking profiles before partners are assigned, and I -will- ban if need be. Min. 4.96 rating. NO unexplained ones or threes. NO overdue swaps on your dashboard. If you're not going to follow through, then leave now, please - we're all here to have fun!

Any questions or concerns, please do PM me. ♥

The European playing cards are a little smaller: bridge-seize

Marryth 07/11/2012 #

From what my limited Google-fu has found for me, the difference in bridge-sized cards vs poker sized is in the width - poker cards are the same as ATCs (2.5x3.5), while bridge cards are a bit more narrow (2.25x3.5). If that's all you can find, I vote them close enough for the purposes of this swap series. :)

May I do mine digitally on microsoft publisher?

Marryth 07/11/2012 #

If you mean digital art adhered to actual playing cards with the suit corners left uncovered, then yes, so long as the printing is quality. :) (If you mean purely digital and no actual playing cards, then I will have to say no.) I have received some gorgeous digital art ATCs, and admire those who are good at it! (I'm definitely not, hah!)

So glad to see so much interest in these! If you're like me and go craft-mad in stages, feel free to tackle other cards in the series. I'll be hosting this monthly, so rest assured, the rest of the numbers in the suit will be posted in due time. :)
