Description:

Swap cards are a wonderful invention!

You will make 20 decorated swap cards for your partner.

What is a swap card? A little card that you include with your swaps so your partner knows who is sending it to them and for which swap --- they are also useful to keep by the computer and refer to when you are rating your received swaps.

What size is a swap card? Generally, about the size of a business card (2" x 3 1/2"). They don't have to be exactly that size, they can vary a little.

EDITED FOR CLARITY: What information goes on a swap card? "Swap-bot" if you like, plus the sender's name as well as headings such as "Swap", "Date", and "Item(s)". The latter is included so that your partner can recall what they are rating you for without necessarily having the swap in front of them. I like to leave one side blank to write a note to my partner.

What do you use to make a swap card? Normally, white or coloured cardstock (ordinary paper is a bit too flimsy). But there is nothing stopping you from being creative here if you want to try other materials as long as the card has the required info on it and can be written on on both sides.

How do you make a swap card? Anyway you like! Some of us buy the sheets of business cards that you can feed through a printer, others cut up cardstock by hand or with a paper cutter.

How do you decorate a swap card? Again, anyway you like, as long as you take into consideration your partner's preferences as per their profile! With computer graphics, clipart, photos, digitally produced designs, stickers, glitter, tiny rhinestones, even handrawn if you have the time, talent and inclination! (I recently printed a sheet of 30 address labels for someone in black by mistake, and ended up handcolouring 30 little ladybugs with 5 different colours using fine Sharpies! lol)

Please be careful when inputing the text for the cards - it is so disappointing to receive swap cards with incorrect or misspelled info on them.

And please, no special requests below - it is sender's choice, guided by your profile.

I ban after sign-up based on a number of factors (ratings, profile, swaps completed, forum drama, group memberships, etc.), so a 1 rating or being a newbie will not necessarily disqualify you. If you are not sure, please pm me to discuss.

Any questions, please pm me as well.

Have fun!

Hey Terry that was me! :)

Yours are my first Swap-Cards (I was using business cards instead, and writing in the back). I thought the handmade painting was so cute, and I didn't imagine it was a mistake until I read your note ^_^

I'm in!

Hello! I just made little swap stickers for myself! I used address labels instead of card stock. Would this be okay for this swap?

do they all have to be the same? all different?

elexiias: I am wondering how you would "affix" sticker labels onto items that don't accomodate something sticky, e.g., tiny items, handpainted items, paper items.

Do you wrap everything in paper or ziplocs first and affix the label to that? Or put them onto cardstock after they are printed?

Personally, I like to be able to write a little note to my partners and I'm not suree how you could do that with labels.

However, I do not like limiting anyone's creativity, so I would suggest that, once you get your assigned partner, you ask them if they are ok with it.

dreamerkins: Make them all the same or all different - it's up to you!

I see we have a great group of swappers that have joined so far!

I used to create little notes all stamped up and decorated but they were never received. I stopped doing that... But I have loads of them still....

I usually stamp co-ordinating with the ATC or swap theme.

Excellent swap idea too... I am not part of this swap but I thought I would just comment.

Take care everybody and enjoy creating...

when are partners coming?

We had 6 pretty new members sign up for this swap. While I have banned them, it is not because of any ratings or other problems. They are just really new here. I have set up a mirror private swap for them to swap with each other and pmd them to explain the situation.

Have fun everyone!

Mine are in the mail! It's cool to do things for other people because you can learn all sorts of new things--like what "Punk Princess" is! LOL

I have pmd the "not sents" for a status report - but this doesn't necessarily mean that they haven't sent their swaps.

If you haven't received your swap by April 25 --- or sooner if it appears your partner may be a problem child --- please let me know. Thx.
