For this swap you will make 1 stunning Day of the Dead inspired chunky charm bracelet for 1 partner. This swap is for a somewhat elaborate and unique creation. The bracelet must be CHUNKY and LOADED with charms, beads and baubles and of course a bit of sparkle. It must relate to Mexico's colourful Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead festivities. Think sugar skulls, dancing skeletons, Posada imagery such as ''La Calavera Catrina'', flowers, offerings, shrines etc. The bracelet should be a mixture of handmade and store bought charms. Charms can be made from whatever medium you like but must be sturdy and durable. You can make them from scratch using polymer clay, shrink plastic, use images in picture frame charms or alter existing objects such as small dolls, skull beads, skeleton toys, jewellery findings, upcycle vintage jewellery, lockets or cabochon frames, small metal shrines, mini dominoes, bamboo tiles, scrabble tiles, bottle caps, embellish with rhinestones etc. Make sure that all images are sealed with Diamond Glaze, a clear cabochon, glass or another suitable method to protect them. Please spend time and effort creating a bracelet your partner will love to wear. You do not need to use expensive supplies but make it special. DO NOT use wooden or plastic kiddie-craft type beads. Please check you partners profile for wrist size and preferred metals. There is no point spending time creating something using gold toned findings if your partner never wears gold. You can easily google info on Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead to see lots of images relating to the subject to give you ideas. Also check out Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead charm bracelets and sugar skull jewellery on flickr and etsy.com for great handmade inspiration. I will angel if necessary but as this is a group swap there should be no need to worry. Any questions please feel free to ask. Swap image is of a bracelet created for me by my friend Linda. |
