You will be sending a pocket-sized journal of your creative process and inspiration... Well, it must be time for me to host my first swap! As a First-Time Swap Host this topic seems daunting! But it's also such a wonderful concept that I'm compelled to see it happen. I will do my best to make sure everyone has a decent experience, so please contact me if you need to. Isisanyanka came up with this fabulous idea, but she decided not to host it. (I was really disappointed when it disappeared--I'd already bought a journal and started making entries and everything!) but Isisanyanka says I am welcome to host it if I like. Yay! Since this is my first swap, I have narrowed the scope. This one is NOT international (sorry!-- Once this one is successfully completed, I'll try to re-introduce the idea for international participation.) YOU WILL NEED: A small journal book (e.g. Moleskine plain pocket book = 3.5" x 5.5" (9 x 14 cm)) A writing implement Stuff to make entries with Creativity Follow-through You MUST make a minimum of 15 (fifteen) WRITTEN 2-page-spread entries in your journal. You MAY ALSO include collages, doodles, scraps from your workshop, more written entries, shorter written entries, etc. My journal so far includes: sketch concepts for my upcoming ATC swaps, random doodles, written reviews of my day's creative accomplishments (and failures!), and chatty letter-type entries describing my artwork (concepts, inspirations, process, specialized techniques) so that my intended partner can understand, and perhaps even learn from, my artistic approach. Please share with your partner at least some of the following: a. Description or explanation of your creative process. (Is it poetry? dance? music? scrapbooking?) b. Your inspirational sources. (Do you watch movies for the costumes? do you always listen to Vivaldi when you paint? do you collect found objects on your walks?) c. samples of your work (rough sketches, doodles, whatnot) My concept is that you will invite your partner into your "studio" through your journal entries. YOU WILL SEND YOUR JOURNAL! (.. make a side-by-side copy for yourself, if you desire to keep one.) (If I need to angel this swap, I will send a COPY of my own journal. It won't be as precious as the original, perhaps, but it will be better than missing out!) I am giving three weeks for sign-ups, but you can start your journal entries anytime you like. Participants must have a 4.8 or higher rating and no no-sends. |
