This swap idea was originally hosted by @arielrobin a few years ago ; photo is of some garland I made! These are really cute & there are tons of templates around, or you can just create your own! For this swap we will make a garland with at least 6 dresses on it. Each dress should be around 6 inches tall; they can be shorter, but no smaller than 4 inches. The width depends on the style of the dress of course. It works best if the dresses are cut from a sturdy card stock, or similar strength, but then you can decorate & embellish them anyway you want. The possibilities are endless - papers, fabric, beads, buttons, stickers, glitter, sequins, fibers....you name it! The theme of the dresses is up to you, i.e. evening gowns, colors, style, as long as its a dress/skirt w/ blouse shape. Though the swap name says "paper", the dresses must be made from more than just scrapbook paper cut in the shape of a dress. You can choose whatever string/ribbon/fiber you want to "connect" your garland. The length will also depend on the style of the dresses. "Hang" the dresses with mini clothespins, mini hangers or whatever works. and here and some more here Here is a template that you can alter into different shapes/styles (i.e. make it longer/shorter/narrow/flared, etc.) I have a "Klutz" book that came with loads of templates, papers & ideas. You can buy it at most nicer (expensive) toy stores, or I'm happy to e-mail you some templates once partners are assigned :) Usual group rules apply & I'll check profiles before assigning partners. |
