Mini-Zine + More - DIY craft edition

Send each of your partners:

  • a mini-zine, themed DIY craft
  • an extra element/item that relates to the subject of your zine

Mini-Zine
The zine should include a DIY craft project or technique tutorial but does not need to be entirely DIY craft-based (eg can include unrelated artwork, stories, features etc).

The zine can be newly created for this swap or it can be one you have swapped before but it must be made by you.

The zine should be a minimum of 8 pages folded down from A4/letter-size paper, as per standard mini-zine (click here for templates & folding guide). However, you are welcome to use a different binding, add more/larger pages, as you prefer, so long as the minimum is met. Maximum page size is approx. 4" x 6" (A6/quarter-size).

Zines may be handwritten/hand-drawn, typed, word processed, photoshopped, cut-and-pasted – whatever style suits you. For those new to zines, it is usual to create one master-copy then photocopy or print multiples of the original.

What more?
The additional item should be relevant to the craft aspect of your mini-zine, eg

  • a useful item for crafting the project such as specialist papers, or a specific type of thread, or a finishing item like a pendant tray or felt for backing

OR

  • a finished example of the item featured in the project or made using the technique described in the tutorial

As always:
Late swaps & low ratings will all be checked before assigning partners, so please contact me if you think there might be a problem.

could you please specify in the swap the size maximum? I'd like to receive a mini-zine and took part in one recently but was sent A5 zines and the max size was 3x5 but that had only been added in the comments so she possibly missed that... Thank you.

Have added the following line to swap description:

"Maximum page size is approx. 4" x 6" (A6/quarter-size)."

I do not mind at all if zines sent are larger than 'standard' mini zine size, but yes, it is a mini-zine swap, and should therefore be smaller than an A5/half-size zine.

I have also added the following general note about zines (which I have included on past swaps but had somehow missed off this one):

"Zines may be handwritten/hand-drawn, typed, word processed, photoshopped, cut-and-pasted – whatever style suits you. For those new to zines, it is usual to create one master-copy then photocopy or print multiples of the original."

Thank you for clarifying! :D Still learning but don't want to get it wrong.
