I always find it difficult to let go of my old calendars. Even when recycling them as envelopes, I hate to cover the pictures with address labels and stamps. This year I'm turning my used calendar into a twelve-page envelope book so I can enjoy the pictures for years to come. I plan to use my book to keep birthday reminders and gift ideas, but it would also be useful for storing flat mementos or monthly receipts that have been gathered throughout the year. Perhaps it would even work well for keeping track of and storing 2013 Swap-Bot exchanges! If you would like to make and trade a similar book, this swap is for you! You will use one calendar to make one book for a single partner. Your first task will be to transform your calendar into a series of twelve envelopes. Each envelope must be at least 5 X 6 inches big. If your calendar is large enough to make bigger envelopes, this will work even better. There are a lot of steps to making this book. It's not terribly difficult, but it is time intensive! The finished product, however . . . very nice! You will find a complete tutorial here. The only difference between this project and the tutorial is our use of a calendar. It may not be possible or reasonable for you to purchase the book cloth needed for this project. If this is the case, please feel free to make your own. Here is a simple tutorial that explains how to create your own book cloth. As always, do your best work and send a product you would enjoy receiving. Participants will be carefully screened. Although this is a group of very responsible swappers, if I have reason to doubt you will complete the challenge, I will drop you from the swap before assigning partners. If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of rating your partner a one, I will angel this swap for you. |
