Holy Crap, Assemblage Let's make an assemblage using our crap. Take your crap and make a 3 dimensional collage called an assemblage or assemblage box. Wikipedia has a great section on assemblage art with links to artists who are well known for their assemblages. Check them out. The Museum of Modern Art also has a great explanation (inspiration) for assemblage. Post a photo online somehwere - flickr, facebook, instagram or wherever - and share a link to that photo in the forum topic "Holy Crap Assemblage". Once your partner has shared their link, you can rate them. Make this an artistic display. You can later give this away as a gift or keep it for yourself. As a group, we've talked about doing projects like this. We want to use our crap but the cost of shipping is a deterent. This will be a test swap to see if inspiring each other and sharing electronically can work. In September, Stephiedee hosted a similar swap where people shared their "Still Life" with eachother as a postcard. Perhaps people prefer to actually receive something in the mail. Feel free to comment on that below. Let me also just say ... we're all going to be very relaxed about this swap. Not to say we're going to be slackers but let's go easy on ourselves and on eachother. This is sort of experimental to see how this can work - if it will work at all. I like the idea of us all getting to see eachother's work too. Image used is from Marischa Jurock at Flickr. |
