Description:

A teacher of a grade 3/4 class in the small town of Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada has embarked on a project to teach his students geography, generosity, and the power of social media. On March 1 he put out a Facebook page calling for people across Canada to mail his students a postcard of their town/city with some comments on the back about where they live. The response has been huge and people across the world have responded. To date the class has received over 600 postcards! Lets send them some more from all over the world! For this swap, send one postcard to Mr. H's classroom and one postcard to your partner. Naked or in an envie with a short note is fine for either your partner or Mr. H's class. For your partner, keep in mind their preference by reading their profile. :) The Facebook page for Mr. H's project can be found here:

I think one of the greatest challenges a teacher must face is how to find fresh new ways of reaching their students and I think Mr. H has done this here. :)

The address to send to Mr. H's Class is here:

so it looks like he really wants postcards from Canada. Other places are considered "fan mail" is that so?

SFreer 04/ 1/2013 #

@Lorenmarie77 as I understand it, it started out only as Canada. They started receiving just from Canada, then they started getting some from around the world. They have a world map as well as a Canada map. Both have the postcards placed around them on the bulletin boards and strings go from the cards to where they came from. I'm not sure why he calls the international cards "fan mail" but I certainly doubt its meant as a derogatory thing.. :) They appreciate any postcards they receive.. its very cool!

I think the fan mail would be in a very positive light. Saying, "Look children, we get people so kind and generous from around the world to send us a card. These are our fans, wanting you to learn more about the world than the usual classroom walls can share."

Before I join the swap, is this profile based or senders choice with a look to see of you have a profile based card available?

SFreer 04/ 7/2013 #

@fawnscrafts this is completely senders choice. Both the card you send to the class (although this card should be a touristy type card from the area where you live) and the card you send to your partner.
