Children's Story ATC Swap

An often discounted literary art form, children's stories are among some of my earliest memories and they still play an important part in my life as a nanny. Some of my favorite authors are Beatrix Potter, Margaret Wise Brown, Frank Asch.

The idea here is to produce ATCs invoking any children's book, character or story from Aesop and the Brothers Grimm to Beatrix Potter, Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys to Judy Blume. National origin is not an issue; in fact the more diverse the origin the better. The only stipulation, your ATCs must identify the story, character or book you are using.

Children's picture books, primary reading textbooks (e.g. Alice and Jerry, Dick and Jane), comic strips are quite acceptable too. Vintage or current or in between or cutting edge it doesn't matter. What matters is your creativity!

This swap is a 3 for 3 swap, where you have 3 different partners, and you make 3 cards for each partner, for a total of 9 cards.

All ATC cards must be the standard size of 2.5 by 3.5 inches (how the image faces or is placed on the card doesn't matter it can be vertical or horizontal), and each card must contain your character or book.

No one rated under 4 can participate..sorry...people deserve to get something in return when the work hard on their art.

Hi ! is this an international swap ?

bordercollielover 11/19/2006 #

Yes! I welcome it! Thanks!

You accidentally put the date to send items as Jan 5 2006 instead of 2007 so it's listed as a previous swap instead of a current one. I don't know, but it may mess up the computer's system for sending reminders to participants (and I NEED those reminders!).

Thanks! I corrected it, so hopefully everything will work out all around! Sue

Can new members join?

Can these be cards illustrating original stories? Or do you only want published authors? Nathalie

bordercollielover 11/28/2006 #

New members can definately join. Sure, original stories can be used, just identify the story name and character! And...most importantly...have fun with it!

I teach kindergarten, and I already know what books/stories I'm going to use!

Is anyone else having a problem viewing their swap partners? The screen is blank (except for the ad) and the browser says 'done'. I reported it to the admin. Have never had this problem before.

This is a fun swap----thanks for hosting it!

Hi! I can't see my swap partners either...I'm also getting the blank screen except for the ads at the top. Hmmmmm.....

ChristineMM 12/18/2006 #

I see my partners now. Have been working on making these, a good stress reliever from holiday prep!

Today ATCs from Julie N arrived, they are lovely. Here is one example of the USPS being late, these were USA to USA and by the postmark it took 14 days for them to be delivered, postmarked 1/03/07 and they came on 1/17/07. Thanks Julie!
