Today when I was stuffing my dotee doll with a used plastic grocery sack instead of polyfill, I thought of this idea: What if we did a dotee doll swap where most of the items you used to make the doll were reused or recycled? Here are some ideas: Use a discarded piece of clothing, and piece of an old dishtowel or an old doll dress to make the body. Some craft felt is made of recycled plastic water bottles. Use an alternate type of stuffing such as shredded clothing, a plastic sack, or dryer lint. Use upcycled embellishments such as beads from broken jewelry, pop can tabs, or wire from a broken electrical cord. Now, none of these things sound nice by themselves, but the challenge is to make an attractive doll out of these items that might have otherwise made it to the landfill. What do you think? Are you up to the challenge? Feel free to make a list of what recycling material you use other than the obvious. Like the filling, or what embellishment came from where. Be a good swapper. Send your stuff. Flakers will be banned. You should have a hanger and a tail on your dotee. No size requirement. International. Other questions? PM me or leave the question below. Smiles! |
