Description:

Please read this description carefully. Failure to comply with the rules earns the offender a "3" rating. No excuses here, people. If you can read this, you can comply.

Lately I have received a couple of nice ATCs with naked-- I mean TOTALLY NAKED-- backs. What's up with that?? Let's take some pride in our work and make something that is a pleasure to behold, front and back.

For this swap, you will make ONE ATC for ONE partner. The front of the ATC will feature something mentioned on your partner's profile, and the back will feature something from yours. For example, if my partner is crazy about butterflies, I will make a butterfly ATC and put something Hello Kitty on the reverse, 'cause I think Hello Kitty rules the world.

Be warned, there will be no "sticker slapping" for this ATC. I expect people to be creative and put a little effort into their creations. If you use a sticker, add to it with other embellishments and techniques.

The back doesn't have to be as elaborate as the front, but it should be attractive and include ALL the following information:

Name of swap

Month and year created

*Number in series (1 of 1, 1 of 2, etc.)

Swap-bot

Name of creator

City and state where creator lives

*I usually make at least two of every ATC so I can have one for myself.

Let's make this very clear: if your ATC does not comply with these instructions, your partner has the absolute right to give you a low rating. No excuses here. If you can't follow the instructions, don't join the swap. If anything needs clarification, please let me know and I will update this description.

The usual disclaimer: no documented flakers, no "1" ratings during the past year, and so forth. Newbies are welcome, but you must reply to my email after you sign up in order to be included.

I DO NOT ANGEL SWAPS. We are all big kids here, and part of the swap world is that occasionally you get flaked on. Rate accordingly, and live with it.

I love this 2-sided idea...

After the send date, would you mind if I start a similar swap without the info requirement? I don't mind if the maker leaves some info out... it should be up to the artist on how he/she signs their work...

PattyJ 06/ 5/2013 #

jringling: no problem. I like the info because it's fun to see where the cards originate. I also like to leaf through mine and remember the wheres and whens of my creations. Have fun, and I just might join your swap too! 8-)

It frustrates me when the atcs arent signed and swap info is not on them. I have received some truly great atcs and would love to remember the person who has made them.

When I get unsigned ATCs, I fill in the username, real name, swap name, and PM asking for a title. Not a signature, surely, but at least some info. Just found one in my book with nothing on the back...I must've been slacking that day! I don't even remember what swap it was for! :(

It is all a process and some are new to swappong and don't think of adding the "obvious" info. Thanks tor the gentle reminders.

I get ATC's that aren't on a sturdy backing. It just the decorated piece of cardstock. That bothers me because a sturdy backing is part of making an ATC. I love this two sided swap idea by the way. ;)

FYI- The only reason to leave a "1" rating is if you do not receive at all. These are SB rules. If the item does not comply with swap requirements, you can rate a "3".

kayler00 06/ 9/2013 #

^^^ is right, you can't just rate someone a 1 if they sent something, learn how to host and the rules before you go say things like that.

stlouisphile 06/ 9/2013 #

1s are for no sends. Please reread the swap bot guidelines, if you are a newbie please only rate a 1 if your partner fails to send.

kiddomerriweather 06/10/2013 #

I don't understand how you are supposed to do an ATC on both sides while still adding all the ATC info to it. Could you please clarify?

Tinker60 06/10/2013 #

The only time a '1' should be given is if you don't receive anything - that is the swap-bot rules. I have received ATCs that do not have the information on the reverse but the sender has put in a separate card in the sleeve with information on it. . . and most of the ATCs I receive do not have a city/state of the creator.

PattyJ 06/11/2013 #

I am well aware that I don't always get things right the first time. As I noted above, "If anything needs clarification, please let me know and I will update this description." I will change the rating specifications... obviously I didn't notice my mistake. Thanks for letting me know. I am a little dismayed about the tone of a couple of these comments. kayler00, everyone makes mistakes... I don't know if I need to learn how to host, but I definitely need to learn not to make mistakes. Especially here.

I don't think there is a hard and fast rule about what info should be on the reverse of an ATC, it's just that I added these things for this particular swap. It's just like someone specifying what elements to use on the front, people. I'm not criticizing anyone's habits and certainly not attempting to set a standard.

kiddo47, please just add something to the back to make it look nice. We don't expect a full-out ATC on the reverse, just an attractive background for your information.

user2637 06/11/2013 #

@PattyJ - Thanks for changing the rating info and clarifying about the back! That swayed me from watching to joining. :)

PattyJ 06/11/2013 #

user2637, glad you decided to join!

kiddomerriweather 06/12/2013 #

Thanks for answering my question. I get it now!

PattyJ 06/12/2013 #

kiddo47, I am glad the little explanation helped. I hope you enjoy this swap!
