Description:

We will be making TWO unfilled stamped sachet bags for our partner, using this site ( http://www.designsponge.com/2009/09/diy-project-madeleys-stamped-lavender-sachets.html ) for starter inspiration. This is a swap for any level of sewing skill.

There are easy directions for making a bag at the bottom of the blog entry. This method has an unfinished top; I recommend using pinking shears on the top if you use this method, to keep the fabric from raveling. If you use this method, be sure to add a pretty ribbon to your stamped bags.

If you want to make a more finished bag, here are some tutorials:

There is a stamping tutorial HERE.

You may also use another method if you have one you like better.

  • Use muslin or other loose weave fabric. (Good quilting cotton is too tightly woven for this project. This is one project where cheap cotton fabric is a good choice. :) )
  • Size is sender's choice. Make sure it's large enough to hold a sufficient amount of potpourri, lavender, or other scented material.
  • Stamp a design on the bags. You can make them both the same, or different.
  • Use ribbon or cording for the bag closure.
