I'd like to participate, but my I can't draw and I've never really painted (much less outside.) I was wondering if the (want to give it a try) part means not painting before or painting outside. If the not-so-skilled swappers are welcome, I'm in! (I just don't want to deeply disappoint anyone.)

Of course anyone is welcome to join!!!! This is all about enjoying ourselves outside while creating. Its more about the experience than the product. It's interesting sometimes after I've done a drawing/painting I think its really bad but some time later I look at it and realize that it captured the scene, experience wonderfully even if its not 'technically' the most realistic art. So come on and play!! Please!

I've always wanted to paint and draw outside as well as in. The thought of going on holiday with a little sketchbook really thrills me. However, I was never good at art at school and was very discouraged by the teacher's attitude. Artsnacker, I really love the reply you gave to blackeyedsusan and have been encouraged to sign up for this swap. Apologies in advance to my recipients LOL!

I'm so happy you decided to jump in. Welcome. Go get your little sketchbook and a few ATC blanks and start playing!! If you get a chance you may also want to check out books by Danny Gregory. He has some great books on sketching from life that are encouraging and inspirational for artists at any level. There are also websites, podcasts and a yahoo group centered around his books.
