Description:

Do you love to collect washi tape? I have rolls of the stuff and am always on the lookout for more! But it's also fun to receive small strips from others' collections to add to your art or smash journals!

THE SWAP

For this swap we will send a note card to our partner and include at least four strips of washi tape on the inside cover. It was recommended that you cover the inside of the card front with clear packing tape and attach the washi tape to that... ESPECIALLY if you are sending a handmade card. Please attach your tape carefully so it can easily be pulled off by your partner and reused. Please make sure you send washi (paper) tape, not deco or masking tape as those are not reusable.

THE REQUIREMENTS

The note cards and washi tape are sender's choice. It's always nice to check profiles but not required. It should go without saying that everything must be new or in excellent condition... no bent, damaged, dirty cards, or unusable tape.

Open to unrated swappers with well filled out profiles. All others - no recent 1s or 3s or ratings less than 4.90. I will angel, if necessary! :)

THE RECAP

• 1 partner

• 1 note card

• 4 strips of washi tape (at least 5" long EACH)

Happy swapping!

Why does it have to be a store bought card? Can it be a hand made card?

picupurcross 07/ 2/2013 #

The reason for the store bought requirement is because of the quality of paper. Most handmade cards are simply card stock and the tape may not come off as easily.

This looks like a fun swap. May I recommend that the swapper cover the inside of the card front with clear packing tape and attach the washi tape to that. That way, it would definitely be removable and you could send a handmade card that way.

@Rabbitfreedom Excellent suggestion! I'll edit the swap to allow for that!

ArtyBeth3 07/ 3/2013 #

What a great idea about the clear packing tape, @Rabbitfreedom

beenebag 07/ 3/2013 #

Can we make requests for colors or patterns here? I'm collecting black and white tapes...any design, just black and white. Or should I put that on my profile, maybe a note at the top for this swap only?

picupurcross 07/ 3/2013 #

@beenebag

I don't think anyone will mind if you state particular likes, but please keep in mind that this is sender's choice.

The idea of this swap is to share what we already have in our collections, not to purchase new tape to meet profiles or preferences. So no rating down if you don't like or already have the tape you're sent.

beenebag 07/ 6/2013 #

I would never rate someone low if I didn't like the content of what they sent:) It is fun to get something you wouldn't usually buy yourself and it's amazing how using a color or pattern you hadn't considered before creates new possibilities. I wouldn't want anyone to buy something new just for this swap!! Goodness knows we all have overflowing washi stashes:) Thanks!

picupurcross 07/ 6/2013 #

@beenebag I'm so sorry if that sounded harsh! I wasn't meaning to imply that you would rate down... just wanted to address that publicly before it became an issue. Thanks for your gracious response and for joining!! :)

beenebag 07/ 6/2013 #

No need to apologize, I wasn't offended:) It is a good point to raise and I hope no one feels like they have to buy new tape. Wouldn't want anyone to feel they can't play because they don't have a specific style/color tape. I'm just excited there's a washi exchange and thank you for hosting:) Take care.

New to this site. So not sure if I qualify for this swap. Do I?

picupurcross 07/ 6/2013 #

@dustysusan You sure do! :)

pinkstrawberryz 07/ 7/2013 #

I'm a little confused about the presentation for this swap. Does anyone have a flickr photo? Is the typical washi sampler okay to put INSIDE the card? A good sturdy piece of plastic?

fiberlady23 07/ 7/2013 #

lovely idea!! thanks.

picupurcross 07/ 7/2013 #

@pinkstrawberryz Yes, take a note card, open it up and line one side with at least four 5" strips of washi tape. It's suggested that you affix clear packing tape to the inside of the note card before placing the washi strips down so they can be easily removed by your partner. That's it! Easy!

TrishaLouise 07/ 7/2013 #

Okay, this is just awesome! I am in :)

picupurcross 07/ 7/2013 #

Great! Thanks to everyone for joining! :)

@beenebag I had to chuckle at your "I wouldn't want anyone to buy something new just for this swap!! Goodness knows we all have overflowing washi stashes." Sometimes it's hard to refrain from buying more tape, even though I know I have enough - but do I? There are so many colors, designs, etc...... :)

mpontalba 07/ 8/2013 #

Just to clarify, I think I'm overthinking this, but is the card we attach the tape to one that should be reusable by the recipient or one we can write a greeting on to the recipient?

picupurcross 07/ 8/2013 #

Same card... just open the note card and attach the tape to one side. Then use the other side to send your greeting and swap info. :)
