Description:

You will send two 7" basic traditional granny squares to each of your assigned partners. Everyone will have 2 partners so you will be mailing out a total of 4 grannies, 2 to each partner.

IMPORTANT!!! Each granny must be made using the basic traditional granny square pattern. Also, you MUST use a 4-ply worsted weight acrylic yarn. DO NOT use cotton or wool for these squares and DO NOT use anything lighter than 4-ply. You must use a different color yarn for each round so that each granny will have a rainbow of colors, thus the swap name. The number of rounds depends on the size hook you use and how tight/loose you crochet. Please measure your squares accurately and make sure that they are as close to 7 inches as possible! ALSO Make sure all ends are woven in and clipped!! AND both squares should be different from each other.

Any questions, please send me a message. Rating requirement for 4.8 and up. With no recent 1's or 3's. Newbies welcome with a WELL filled out and detailed profile. (Yes, I do check.)

Also ~ I live in "Boonyville" and sometimes our internet connection isn't very good. This is especially true when it rains & in the winter months. So please be patient, partners will get assigned and if needed I will extend the send date.

I would like to have a "challenge" square once in awhile. An example would be for December, send your partner a Christmas-y colored square. Let me know what you think of this, either in the comment section below or you can pm me.

What hook size do you all use to get to the 7-inches? are you a loose or tight stitcher? Just looking for a place to start....

@frenchie46 - I am a tight crocheter. My favorite hook size is "H". I'm using "H" and I get 7 rounds to a 7 inch square.

IS Aran weight OK? I have boxes full of the stuff....

@Morte - according to the Craft Yarn Council's website ( http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/weight.html ) Aran is the same as worsted weight, so yes, you can use it as long as it is NOT wool.

I like the idea of having a Christmas-y squares for December. If we could maybe we can send 2 regular squares and one holiday one.
