Description:

I just hosted an Advent calendar inchie swap, so i thought it might be fun to have a bunch of Halloween inchies, too. We will make thirty to swap, so if you are doing a Countdown, you will have to create your own 31st one. I think I might just put all of mine together in a little frame...we'll see.

If you don't know, Inchies are tiny artworks that are one inch square. They must be thick and sturdy so that they can be used to embellish an advent calendar.

You will create six Inchies for five partners, making a total of 30. Please do not put numbers on the front of the inchies, since you will not know what numbers your partners will need. Just make each inchie fitting for a Halloween theme (Pumpkins, cats, witches, ghosts, skeletons, candy corn, etc.).

Do your best work. Just because the surface is tiny, doesn't mean you should just put one thing on it. You can make tiny collages, ink the edges, add doodles, embellish, etc. I often coat mine with diamond glaze or another gloss to really make it seem polished. It can be a challenge to cut Inchies into perfect squares, so I use a 1"square punch. For sturdy backs, I purchase precut inchie squares online from a website, www.ellenhutson.com

Be certain you sign the backs of your inchies with your username or real name, and the date.

One question: when you say "thick and sturdy" do you mean like bristol board (heavy paper) or like chipboard (several millimeters thick)? Please pardon me, I am new to inchies. Thanks!

ok, I've never done inchies, but was checking and thought this would be cute. so going to give it a try.

Would a thin cardboard (say..a cereal box type cardboard) be sufficient for a base? I guess my question is very similar to Fenriss's.

Some people do use cereal boards. That is probably the minimum thickness. I wouldn't use just card stock, though. I actually buy my Inchies precut from matboard from a place online. It's convenient and they are always perfectly cut. I can paint, draw, stamp or coat in embossing powder directly onto them, or I can attach scrapbook paper that I cut using a 1" square punch.

Thank you for the info and links! This is very helpful.

Thank you for the info. I'd love to be able to buy some precut ones but I'm on a bit of a budget atm lol. I do however have a TON of cereal boards stored up and it would be great to put them to use! Thanks again!

Hello, it's an international swap, so the host will take care for poststamps to the Netherlands (Europe). Thanks! Henny

I don't really know what you mean, Henny, but it is an international swap so people realize they could be mailing to the Netherlands.

I was so bummed out. I got only U.S. swappers. I love stuff from other countries! But THREE of my five went to other countries. :( Not complaining really, as I love sending stuff out. Just would have been nice to have ONE other country since that's what I hoped for when I signed up for international. Oh well maybe next time!
