Description:

What is Mail Art? It's the practice of sending small works of art through the postal service. Although mail art can technically be any object, for the purposes of this swap, we will be sending a mail art envelope.

  • Start with an envelope - commercially made, or one you create yourself. Sender's choice on size, color, paper.
  • Add art to the front and back of your envelope. This could be any variety of media, including (but not limited to): inks, collage, drawing, zentangles, stamps, embossing. Stickers and washi tape may be used but do not send a plain envelope with just some stickers or tape slapped on. Make sure any elements are securely attached.
  • Inside the envelope, include a letter to your partner. The letter should be at least one full page, and it should tell your partner a little about yourself, and something about how/why you created your mail art. Do not just send a memo note sheet with a couple of sentences on it.
  • Attach appropriate postage, using stamps. Do not use metered postage for this swap.
