I know we have lots of writers in our group, so I came up with something fun just for them. Explore your character and improve your grasp of a character in a new way. If this goes well, it may become a repeated swap. In this swap you will FIRST put a basic bio of the character you want to use in the comments. (Name, Age, Gender, Genre and whatever someone writing to them probably should know.) Then join up. Once partners are assigned you will write a letter as your character to your partners character. Try to ask about your new "pal" with (maybe) polite but unusual questions, so your partner will have to think hard in their reply. And when you receive a letter, you'll write back, still as your character. Answer questions, be friendly(or not as he case may be) and in the process stretch your mind and really get to know the "person" you created. It's a great exercise to prepare for National Novel Writing Month. |
