Who else loves poetry?

This the perfect opportunity to share our favorite poems and to discover new poets!

For this swap, we'll each copy out a few of our favorite poems (say, 4-6 of them), and send them to our partners, along with a note explaining why we love the poems we chose.

This means that you might get poetry that isn't entirely to your taste - but you might also discover something really great!

This is an INTERNATIONAL swap, since we're just sending a few sheets of paper. Newbies welcome, but please have a filled-out profile!

Someone asked if this can be sent by e-mail - honestly, I'm a big fan of print, and love getting letters - they're part of the reason I do swaps. If you'd really rather send e-mails, though, you can check with your partners and see if they'd prefer e-mail or printed materials! If they're ok with it, feel free to e-mail.

I'm so glad there are people out there who love poetry -- it's so hard to run into poetry readers. And it's so seldom there's an opportunity to share favorites with otherw who actually want to read poetry instead of the blank stare I often get.

I had a feeling you would be in this one June.

Can we do this by email? I would not mind at all getting an email of poems. Thanks!

This swap is a brilliant idea, since I'm a huge fan of poetry.

Well, I'd like to know if I can send translated poetry... I'm brazilian, and some of my favorite poems are in portuguese! Then I would translate it so I could share it with my partners... is it possible?

P.S.: I can't talk/write perfectly in English, I hope you don't mind... but I can undestand/read it exceptionally well ^_^

I agree with Ros. Physical mail is why I send things too. So, to my partner- please don't email them!!

Thanks :)

I would like for my partner to mail my poems as per the original swap instructions (ditto above: "I'm a big fan of print, and love getting letters - they're part of the reason I do swaps.") :)

Also, in regards to another comment above, should I happen to get a partner who would like to send Portuguse or Spanish poetry, I am fairly proficient in those languages, so I would not need a translation. I could probably stumble along to try and read French or Italian, too, just don't ask me to speak/write in those languages!;)

There are so many great poems and poets out there that I'll be sending some current faves I trust my partners will enjoy. (I promise not to inflict Bukowski on anyone!) I hope there are some who like short-form poetry like haiku and senyru. FWIW ... I can read Spanish and French passably, if that is an issue and I have ready access to a few people able to translate from Chinese. Does anyone mind if some of the poems are printed from a printer such that they can actually BE read?!

Just a little note to those who are going to send poetry to me;

can you please send it to me via snail mail?

gingerberrycc 06/ 2/2008 #

Ros -- I hope you're reading the post-swap comments. Thank you so much for a wonderful swap experience. I hope you'll offer another poetry swap in the near future. Superb idea, but it was indeed the participants who made this. Thanks swap partners!
