Since I've never made one of these before I'm not sure if everyone has thought of this--using dollhouse furniture/accessories? Any other suggestions please post here and thank you!

I have never made one either. With that said I think I will practice my first one and sign up for another if you host. Id hate to sign up now and have no idea if my tin will be pretty or not. Id hate to disappoint my partner.

I love making them! I'm in! I like using dice, small miniature bottles that had glitter in them, thimbles, little metal numbers, beads with letters on them, any other beads, ribbon, paper of course. That's all I can think of right now. :)

@janski48 you are an expert! Thank you for sharing what you use.

Sheryl, PLEASE sign up! You don't make ANYTHING that isn't pretty! You know you want to--come on!

Oh Kristy - you are always so kind. Ok, I signed up ONLY because YOU gave me the confidence*I need to accomplish this challenge. I also thank you for giving enough time on this swap to read up on tins, look for the items, and then start creating one for my partner. Again thank you!! HUGS!

Oh I'm not an expert, but I do love to make them!! Sheryl, I agree with Isabellasnow!

So it's like a little diorama inside? The lid doesn't have to close?

janski48 01/18/2014 #

You could make it to close or not. I've done them both ways.

isabellasnow 01/20/2014 #

@janski 48 . . . do you paint the inside/outside? cover with paper? sand it down? The wheels are slowly beginning to turn and I know I'll feel more relaxed if I have the basics in mind.

janski48 02/18/2014 #

Sorry, just saw this comment. I sand if I'm going to paint just to rough it up. I also use paper depending on what I feel like doing. When I paint the outside I just make sure not to paint the part that closes. :)

janski48 02/18/2014 #

Well, for the paint part, if you're going to leave the lid open as a display it doesn't matter. But if you want the box to close then you have to watch the paint. :)
