Description:

If you haven't tried a magic yarn ball before you are in for a treat!

The idea is that you gather together little lovely things for your partner and then choose a ball of high quality yarn and use it to wrap the things up. What you end up with will most likely be an extremely irregular looking ball with lots of goodies poking out of it that are only fully revealed once your partner has completely unwound it.

You will be posting your magic yarn ball so it arrives in time for valentines day. There is no theme but read your partner's profile to see what he/she likes and try to tailor it to them. Please take special note of any allergies.

Rules:

Yarn must NOT be acrylic - choose something that is wool, cotton, silk or a combination. Please use a whole ball and where possible include the ball band so your partner knows what they have got. Contents should value approx Ă‚ÂŁ10 (british pounds) or equivalent exluding postage and the cost of the yarn. You must be in europe to take part - postage outside europe makes this too costly for a lot of people I'm afraid You must have a trader rating of 4+ to take part although newbies are always welcome.

Shall we knot the items or shall we put yarn around them so that they fall out when the yarn is rolled open?

drewzel 01/22/2007 #

Has anyone got any tips for the sort of things to put into a magic yarn ball? Before I signed up for this swap I had never heard of one let alone given/received one and I'm trying to find things small enough to wrap into a ball of yarn. How many things do you put in? What sort of things? Any help gratefully received

I'm with Noel, would you do one for March time? I would really love to take part then.

Hi there - is it just me or can nobody else see their swap partner yet? I'm a bit concerned as we only have till the 7th to send and it's the 1st already....not much time to put something together. Esp as I'll have to post Saturday as I can't get to the post office except at weekends (that work thing gets in the way!!) Can someone let me know if there is a problem?

user4401 02/ 1/2007 #

i cant see my partner aswell there isnt nothing to click on to view our swap partners ......

wendyswoolies 02/ 1/2007 #

I have tried to contact the co-ordinator, Lixie, to ask if she can activate the swap as I'm itching to get going! Seriously, I can only get to the Post Office at weekends so if I don't have my swap partner in time for this Saturday I won't be able to send anything until the following Saturday which will be after the send deadline - so apologies to whoever is finally given as my partner, your parcel may be late.

and it starts! yeah! so, do i understand correctly that we do not contact our partner to ask what they like? we just based it on their profile and blog? just wanted to clarify! thanks!

wendyswoolies 02/ 4/2007 #

I've contacted my swap partner just to double check for likes/dislikes - if you are my partner feel free to check out my blog (there's a questionaire there from another swap) or email me if you want clarification on anything. To be honest I'll be excited to receive anything you want to send.
