There are so many, many beautiful quilt blocks out there, especially online, complete with instructions and tutorials, I want to do them all!~ That's pretty unreasonable, however, so I thought about categories of types of blocks and looked into those made up of four squares only, would be a good place to start. This is the third of a series of swaps for four-part blocks. They will all be 12.5" unfinished blocks, and will start with fairly simple patterns, leading into more complicated and paper pieced ones later. I'm going to see how it goes with two different blocks per month. We will each have three partners to whom we will send one of the four blocks of each pattern. Since the parts are interchangeable, it doesn't matter which one goes where. These will definitely be scrappy blocks in the end, since each one we receive will be in different fabrics, but I'll list a colorway for each block, so they'll be at least similar in color. You don't have to participate in every swap, but it will be a great chance to try new blocks and techniques, and feel free to step in anytime you want, even if you don't start in the beginning. Following the instructions given, make up the four parts of the blocks and send one of three from both patterns to each of your three partners, so everyone will receive 6 different parts of two blocks, and adding your saved ones, you can assemble the complete blocks. Background colors should be cream or white (or the occasional dark background), the main color for each is listed after each block links. Other secondary colors are senders' choice--or go by what the pattern calls for if you like. Block #1: Indian Mats color--Browns, rusts, tans--stripe part should be a striped pattern fabric, and matching the other colors in some way. Our first Paper Piecing block! Block #2 Interwoven Diamonds color--Sender's choice Here are instructions on how that works: You Tube tutorial there are lots, just search youtube for Paper Piecing tutorial Any questions, please PM me. Since it's a group swap, I'm assuming no one will flake, but if you have life jump up and get in your way, please contact your partners and me for help. |
