Mail Artist Zine For this swap we will be making 1 zine for 1 partner that features our art. Because this is about you, you can start making it now - you don't have to wait for the swap sign up date to begin. Create a zine that tells your partner about you as an artist. Include some text but at least 6 examples of your art. Art can be from past swaps, past creations or something that you create just for this swap. A zine is a little mini-book/magazine. It can be created by folding a single piece of paper or can be made by folding and sewing or stapling pages together. These can be original works or digitally produced and printed or photocopied and hand colored. Zines can even be entirely handmade (if you don't have access to a color printer or whatever). What to include: Most people mail these in an envelope but if you can work out mailing them naked, more power to you. There are many templates and ideas out there on the web so do a google search or here are a few leads ... Sam Proof's Zine video and Word document template Zine Wiki shows multiple zine templates Image from the Flaxman Library flickr page (and edited) If you have other suggestions, please post in the comments below. Plenty of turn around time but if you have problems with the dates, let me know. Make extra copies of your zine and think about including them in future mailart swaps. A little something extra to share. |
