Most of us have been flaked on during our time on Swap Bot, and I came up with this idea as a result of some of the more bizarre excuses that I've received over the years. Here's the idea: you will send your partner a postcard based on their profile (so make sure that yours is filled out before you join up). On this postcard, you will write the craziest excuse as to why you couldn't send a fictional swap. Make it nuts, totally unbelievable, somewhat believable or even something that you've heard in real life. Yes, you will actually send this postcard to your partner. If you don't, you'll be flaking on a flaker swap, and will be rated as a real-life flaker. That just sends my mind down a crazy flaker wormhole that I'm not sure that I need to explore right now. You'll be sending this postcard naked (without an envelope). I will be checking participants profiles and ratings thoroughly before assigning partners; if you are currently showing as late on any swaps I will request that you follow through on those before participating in this swap. Similarly, if you have a 1 rating and have not made an effort to follow through on the swap owing to your partner (especially if they are still an active member of the site), I will likely ask that you do this before participating in any of my swaps. Newbies are welcome on a fairly selective basis. Please have a well filled out profile (with a nice listing of your likes as well as a self introduction) and consider joining the Newbie Helpers group. If I see both of these things when I'm checking your profile, you're in. I do angel all of my swaps, although I will make every possible effort to ensure that they remain flaker-free. |
