Serial Killers ATC

Awesome swap - I am definately in.

I wanted to do something different and I am so fascinated with serial killers....am i morbid or what????!!!!!

Making an ATC of this theme is not necessarily celebrating or making it beautiful. I read a lot of crime books and they help me understand humanity. I think the swap is an interesting one.

I agree Karen. This is neither celebratory or beautiful. If it is wrong then so is most of the mainstream entertainment these days.

And Cat - if your morbid then so am I! I actually did my degree dissertation on Serial killers and their effect and representation in the media.

I have possibly the most "wrong" looking stocked bookcase in the UK.

A really good idea for a swap. I was going to sign up for the monsters atc as the first thing that came into my head was a serial killer type thing but then I thought that might not be well received by my partner, if they weren't expecting that. Only problem is I tend to think too much about what I'm doing for ATC - will end up lying in bed at night giving myself the heebie-jeebies with this one lol.

lol shona! I rememeber when I was having to plan what to do for my dissertation - i was originally doing suicide and the media, but I kept having messed up dreams, So I went to my dissertation supervisor and was like "its messing me up" and he said "what would you be more comfortable with?" my answer? "serial killers, please." ;-)

AHHH!! Just yesterday I wanted to do another Serial Killer ATC swap. The last one was a blast. I remember how many people bashed this swap though. Geez, its just Serial Killer artwork, if ya don't like it don't join! Thanks for posting this one ;)

i went to college for the criminal justice degree. the A.S. and B.S. and there was a required class and it was nothing but serial killers. i have a 5 shelf bookshelf with nothing but serial killer books and movies . nothing is wrong with it. maybe these cards will save your life one day, there very educational.

chortle this is just too precious !! hahaha - oh, and magpie55 :: from what i've read most serial killers have a desperate desire to be taken seriously, so i like the idea of poking fun at them by turning them into atcs - it's like we're performing some sort of passive aggressive retaliation giggles :3

is it poor form to do the same serial killer twice and send to two different partners ? ( i haven't actually completed an atc swap before, so like, i'm a little wispy on the etiquette ) blush ^-^;

actually, you don't need to answer that cos i've just discovered that i'm almost four weeks behind in my study unit, so i'ma have to drop from this time consuming swap ;_; so sad, but hopefully it'll run again..

I didn't realize when I thought about doing this swap that so many people would be against it. I mean, jeeze, it's JUST ART!!!!!!!!!!! I am fascinated with true crime and I try to think what really makes these people "tick". I have worked in a state prison and now I work for the Department of Juvenile Justice. No one is celebrating murders, it is art...nothing else. People feel "too safe" and don't think something bad can happen to them. IF people have a problem with doing ART then they don't have to do it. Granted we have freedom of speech and I appreciate that, everyone has their own opinion. BUT....if you don't like it then you don't have to do it. SO.......for all you who don't like this swap and put their 2 cents in....I want to say to you what my favorite comedian KATHY GRIFFIN would say to you "SUCK IT!!!!" HAHAHAHAHAHA

Hey! You filched my idea! LOL You know you can take anything of mine you want... Catt228 is my partner. We've been shacked up for 7 years. I made about 50 serial killer atc's for twighlightgecco because her package got misplaced and mailed late. Her profile said she liked serial killers. I'm also making memorial ATC's, to be sent later, for all of their known vics to show respect and remorse for their deaths...since the killers themselves were incapable of it...Also out of respect for the vics families. Yo! Catherine...perhaps you should host a swap for the serial killer vics after this one is over!

I haven't posted the scans I did of the ATC's in my flickr stream because 1) I'm not sure I want these guys anywhere in my stream and 2) I was sure people would take it the wrong way...If you saw my art in my flickr stream and these SK ATC's you would see that there is absolutely nothing artsy or celebrated about them...They are two sided, they have a sort of collaged B&W photo on the front and I copied text from a book and glued it to the back.I did a good job, however I got the impression that the person I did them for didn't cared for frilly stuff...Besides, It would have been obscene. It was extremely emotionally draining for me... but I owed tgecco big time. As compaasionate as I am even I couldn't help but read about bundy and Berkowitz. I made John Wayne Gacy cards w/ memorial cards for their vics...Like I said I'm a very gentle and compassionate person...I even rescued a blacksnake...now the rattle snake that confronted me was not so lucky...(pics in my flickr)
