Inspiration Stones: I've been making these a few years now and they are so great to have on a table in a bowl, great conversation starters, and good affirmations to start the day with. I think it would make a great series to fill up our bowls at home and to give to friends! The Inspiration Stone you make (one stone to one partner) should be a minimum width of about 1 & 1/2 inches or more. Paint the whole stone a bright pretty color (I usually use Acrylic Paints; metallic paints don't adhere very good to the stones surface I've found) and then after the paint dries write your inspired message. NOTE: Painting one side, then letting that side of the stone dry, then flipping the stone over to paint the other side, I think is easiest. I usually do a second, or even a third coat of paint, to get the most even coverage, and prefer myself to use a small tipped paint brush. You can either paint on or use a Fine or Extra Fine Point Sharpie (or something similar) in order to write your inspired message. You may want to wait an hour or so until the paint is totally dry to write your inspired word(s). Color and message is up to sender but read your partners profile so you don't pick a color they dislike and so you can pick an inspiring message that will be special to them. If you want to add any little flourishes in design around the word(s) you can but its not a requirement. Spraying a coat of Polyurethane spray will keep the color looking rich and keep the message from fading over time. Tuck in a note with the swap & maybe tell your partner why you picked the inspired word(s) you did for their stone. |
