Swap details:

Warning! This is going to be a bit of a labour intensive swap, but I believe that it will be really rewarding if the effort is put into it. :) I've done this twice as a group, and several times as a private swap, and I've loved it every time. I still have many of the beautiful things I was sent for it.

This is going to be a swap where you send 12 letters to your partner all at once, meant to be opened one every month in the upcoming year 2015. You may wonder, "What am I going to write about?", but fear not! All will be revealed below.

♥ You will have 12 envelopes sealed and marked with the month, plus one envelope with an introduction letter explaining a little bit about yourself.

♥ Each envelope will have a minimum 1 page of substantial writing. 8.5 X 11 page written on one side lined or blank, but more is definitely welcome and appreciated. Typed is okay, but try to make it decorative! Not just Calibri size 11 font and blah. Handwriting is fine too.

♥ In addition, each envelope will contain a small flat item. This can be anything from found art, a drawing, ATCs, stickers, bookmark, a 4X6 photo, paint chip colours you like. The only catch is that it has to be something you would like to share, or something that your partner would like, and you can't send the same thing twice.

♥ In addition to a small flat item and a letter, include a birthday card on your partner's birthday month, and one other card of your choice (Christmas, Easter, Valentines - whatever you would like.)

As a guide, in each letter, half will be about yourself, and the other half will be about inspiring, or guiding your partner through the month. Eg. "It's summer now, don't be afraid to go out and get some sunshine."

NOTE: Some of these are the same as 2010 and 2011, others are new and different to write on. These are just random, open ended ones that I came up with, and if anyone has any other ideas, I'm open to adding them to the list :). EDIT: For the months that have more than one suggestion, choose either (or both!).

♥January: Fresh OR Bold

♥February: Love

♥March: Create OR Delight

♥April: Connect

♥May: Inspire OR Delicacy

♥June: Continue

♥July: Beauty OR Worthy

♥August: Miss

♥September: Heal OR Strength

♥October: Hope

♥November: Remember OR Comfortable

♥December: Achieve

I would say that this is half sender's choice, and half partner related. You want to share information about yourself, and you also want to know facts about your partner such as if they are in a relationship, have kids, what their likes and dislikes are because you want to make this special for them. Something that can be started right away before partners are assigned are the envelope decorations, cards, and your part of the letter if you'd like, or there should be enough time after partners are assigned to make it.

I will be angelling the swap so let me know if there are any issues. But that being said, the idea is that there are 12 letters (plus an introduction) for 12 months which your partner should receive by January. NB: People have queried this; the point is it takes at least ten days for most things to arrive around the world so a late-December send-by should mean people receive by mid-January.

EDITED: I have been contacted by a reliable swapper, and it has been suggested that I lower the sign-up rating. What I have decided is this: I will remove the automatic filter, and manually chuck you out if you sign up and do not fulfil the requirements, and haven't contacted me to explain any issues. The basics are, you should have a 5 rating (though if you have contacted me and discussed any issues, and we have come to an agreement, I might be prepared to be flexible), and at least fifteen Type 3 swaps completed, is the minimum requirement.

I know it may seem silly to say this, but if you don't think that you can complete the swap on time, or afford the international postage, don't join. There's nothing worse than being let down and not getting anything. That being said, there's plenty of time to start and get started, so don't be intimidated if it looks like a lot of work.

Note! There is no cost limit/cost suggestion for this swap. You can very easily spend zero dollars, or very little (aside from postage!) depending on what you choose to do.

I think miss, heal, hope, and remember are so hand in hand, I find it intimidating! Could words like delight, worthy, strong, or even comfortable, bold, delicacy be added instead of one or two of them? Very intrigued by this swap, and trying to figure out how to wrap my mind around all the key words ;-)

Are the 12 letters meant to be posted separately or mailed together in a package?

peach19 11/26/2014 #

This sounds so fun! I wish I wasn't a newbie! :(

MindfulOne 11/26/2014 #

WOW. This is so juicy. Right up my alley. The idea of writing a letter as a gift for each month and having a topic as a starting point is exciting. I can't join though, this time. I'm too new. But maybe I'll pick a friend (elsewhere, too new here to have friends yet) and do it for them. Spread the love. :)

Babsmomof5 - I've edited the swap to reflect your ideas! Thanks for the feedback. I hope you'll join us =)

Saba - post them all together in a package. The receiver has to exercise self-control in order to make them last the year! That's part of the fun =)

Peach and Mindful - maybe next time. Or you could set it up as a private swap for each other! Though I like the idea of doing it for a random friend! I might have to do that too!

I re-read the project info, and saw the edit about about alterations to the sign-up rating. As I read the text, it seems to say that basically a participant should have a 5. Nothing about the original minimum number of past swaps, etc. Have I read this correctly?

angel1985 11/28/2014 #

Nope. Still says you should have a minimum of 15 type 3 swaps completed by sign up deadline.

sophieolsten 12/ 8/2014 #

Can we please still sign up for this swap even if we're newbies as I am brimming with great ideas and would love to join in :D

MindfulOne 12/ 9/2014 #

I've been preparing materials and am looking forward to finding out who I will get!

A package of letters and love left the USA and is en route to my partner in Netherlands. Enjoy!
