Create A Christmas Afghan Swap

BOTH KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS WELCOME!

INTERATIONAL SWAPPERS welcome!

You will have two partners in this swap. You will crochet or knit three 12" squares for each partner, for a total of six squares. This swap will run in four rounds. Which will give everyone twentyfour squares in which to make a lovely afghan to help decorate you home for the holidays.

You can use any pattern you want, as long as it results in 12" squares. Squares must be made with 4-ply worsted weight acrylic yarn, that way everyone gets a nice consistent afghan when swapping is completed. All squares should be sent with tails woven in and ready for assembly. DO NOT KNOT THE YARN AND SNIP AT THE KNOT!! Please make sure you weave in or work over a reasonable length of yarn, so that no one’s squares unravel.

There will be two color schemes: Traditional and Victorian, both shown below. If you do not use the color examples given below, please match the colors as close as possible!

Once you receive your partner assignments, please contact them to find out their color scheme preference.

Traditional colors are:

Red (e.g. Red Heart Worsted Weight in Cherry Red)

Green (e.g. Red Heart Worsted Weight in Paddy Green)

White (e.g. Red Heart Worsted Weight in White)

Victorian colors are:

Dark Red/Brick Red (e.g. Red Heart Worsted Weight in Burgundy)

Dark Green (e.g. Red Heart Worsted Weight in Dark Sage)

Cream/Ivory (e.g. Red Heart Worsted Weight in Aran)

This swap is open to everyone with a 4.8 rating or higher. Newbies are welcome with a completed profile. Anyone with “No Sends” in the last 6 months or a rating lower than 4.8 will be deleted.

Extras may be sent with your swap to earn some heart!

YOU MUST RATE YOUR PARTNERS when you receive your squares. If you don’t plan on rating, don’t join this swap.

See my blog for more details and examples!

Almost time to start! I'm getting excited to finally know which colors I should be using so I can make a few blocks. :)

I have been making squares like crazy :-) I am making two afghans, one in traditional and one in victorian. I am also doing this swap in my Yahoo! Swap Group so I am super busy making Christmas Squares!

After contacting my partners I realized something else. We need to state if we want our blocks to be knitted or crotched. I would prefer mine to be crocheted. It is easier to add rows to make sure I have all the same 12".
