The first for 2015 ~ "SEW AS YOU GO" Striped block!

Each month you will use the "sew as you go" method to make your partner 1 striped quilt block ~ 12.5" X 12.5" and the only two requirement is you must use no less than 6 different fabrics. Also NO batting. You will use some plain or leftover cotton fabric you have hanging around.

Stripes can go horizontal, vertical or on an angle.

When you have enough squares to make a quilt, you will add your own batting and whatever you pick for a backing.

Here is the awesome tutorial you will use for this block!

I love Jenny!

Here's another tutorial without batting, might be easier to accommodate this swap

Good one but 2 things ~ one I never though of starting in the middle! Good idea and two where you see them use paper we should still use a second piece of fabric instead of paper! Great tutorial ~ thanks!

I missed the part about using paper--i always use a square of muslin or white cotton or something else that's lightweight--I use a square of 14-16 inches because as it gets sewn, it often shrinks up a bit. In some of the other swaps for this block that call for 6 1/2" blocks, if you have the long strips, you can make this bigger one, trim it down to 13" and cut into quarters. One of my favorite quilt blocks!

Mine too! I love this block! I hope after the holidays I can finish up my nieces baby quilt I am making using this block!

Hi everybody! I have been taking a hiatus from swapping for the better part of 2014. Decided to have a look at swap bot and thought I would see what sewing swaps there are. Found myself sewing quilts this year for my kids and sister for Christmas. 5 quilts! Two are flannel quilts I started a few years ago for my kiddos. (Blocks were all done) Hubby bought me a new sewing machine (old one stopped working) and had my serger serviced. I am a happy sewer now! Have missed sewing and looking forward to this swap sew much! :)
