Description:

Make your partner a mini accordion-style scrapbook or junk journal that will fit into a CD case. The front and back cover should be decorated, and at least half of the pages should be decorated or embellished in some way. Please use heavy card stock for the pages and the cover, and make it six pages long. I'm making one for myself, and six pages plus the embellishments and the cover fits perfectly into a CD case.

This is sender's choice, so you can start making your journal as soon as you sign up. You can include mini envelopes for some of the pages if you want to, but it is not required. Also, don't send the plastic CD case along with the journal or scrapbook. This should help with the postage.

Questions? Pm me and I'll answer quickly; I'm here every day.

Do you perhaps have a link to a tutorial on how to create this type of journal? It certainly sounds interesting!

I've just watched a mini accordion album tutorial on youtube. I'm a bit confused by how you get 8 pages. I want to have a go, but it scares me lol xx

Here is the site I went to, but you are right, @Minxy1964 there are only 6 pages! I'll change that.

Don't be afraid! I'll stay by you, lol! I've never made one either, so it'll be like the blind leading the blind.

Minxy1964 01/10/2015 #

Going to throw caution to the wind and have a go! Just need to finish your purple creation first... ;-)

TereDiane1954 01/10/2015 #

That's great! Thanks for joining!

Minxy1964 01/10/2015 #

Right. Just looked at the website you posted and it makes perfect sense. I think what I saw on Youtube was a variation of a diamond accordion scrapbook. Feeling a lot more confident now. I'm happy to have a go at most things. Still limited to five swaps at the moment though. I've completed eight, been rated for two and the other six were posted within the last 10 days and all international. If I get stuck making this I have a colleague who is very skilled at paper crafting, so will bat my eyelashes at her lol xx

TereDiane1954 01/10/2015 #

LOL, you little flirt, you!

Minxy1964 01/10/2015 #

Hey, it works every time! Lol

Minxy1964 01/12/2015 #

Before I go steaming ahead with this, are the decorated/embellished pages to be fully so, or with a bit of blank space left? Going to pick up some coloured card for the cover on my way home from work today x

TereDiane1954 01/12/2015 #

Oh, let's leave plenty of blank space so your partner can write award-winning poetry in it, or add photos, etc. Thanks, @Minxy1964

TereDiane1954 01/12/2015 #

@mizvicky , thanks! It's nice to see your sassy face here, lol!

TereDiane1954 01/12/2015 #

A bit off-topic, but what do you all think of the maze book that is below the tutorial for our accordion book? I've never seen anything like that! I like it!

Minxy1964 01/12/2015 #

Ooh more sassy people! I like it lol. Now I know what I am doing I will make a start this week. Looking forward to this x

Created46 01/13/2015 #

TereDiane, the little maze books are some of my favorite mini's to make. they are so much fun.

mizvicky 01/13/2015 #

Lol.... ;-)

I'm watching this. I have to make one first (practice)... I don't wanna disappoint my partner ....

mizvicky 01/13/2015 #

Actually... I joined ... I'm thinking I love the challenge...

TereDiane1954 01/13/2015 #

I finished mine! It was easy to follow the tutorial, and very fun to add my own embellishments, like some fabric and ribbon. I really enjoyed making this!

MiRdLHWY43 01/13/2015 #

I finished mine today and it turned out pretty well! I hope that my partner will like the theme and colors I used. I'm in another mini swap and the way that one is made is nice also.

Minxy1964 01/18/2015 #

Finished! One very valuable lesson learnt is that in future I wil get my boyfriend to cut anything that needs to be precisely measured ( he works in engineering ), as it's a bit wonky. Boyfriend was asleep when I cut the card, and I'd rather poke a tiger with a burnt stick than wake him... lol x

MiRdLHWY43 01/18/2015 #

Haha Minxy! my husband is the precise cutter in my family. I tell him that he must get the micrometer out to wrap gifts so perfectly. I have more of a um...shall we say creative(read messy) mindset.

Minxy1964 01/18/2015 #

I am exactly the same! I' m not allowed to wrap christmas presents any more. He says it's all a matter of geometry and I have no concept. Men..... lol

midwestkiwi 01/20/2015 #

oh ho. my cuts aren't TOO bad, but I had to master the folds. !/2 I can do...1/3rds? Not so much. But as the tutorial stated, I will tuck wonky into a junk journal where all my experiments flourish.

MiRdLHWY43 01/22/2015 #

A Martha Stewart scoreboard and a paper trimmer are the best and most valued friends for cutting, scoring, and measuring. I'd be lost without them. Sooo worth the money.

TereDiane1954 01/22/2015 #

I use something from Recollections that has a cutter and a scorer. It has a replaceable blade. Got it for half price at Michaels!

Minxy1964 01/24/2015 #

I picked up something very similar from The Works the other day.

MiRdLHWY43 01/31/2015 #

Woohoo @minxy I'm sending to you!
