Traditional 9-Patch blocks are versatile--you can make Disappearing 9-Patch out of them, and the combinations of colors and orientation and positions of the squares make interesting patterns in the overall quilts. We'll make 12 1/2" blocks and send two to one partner in their preferred colors-- post your preferences in the comments -- making them by arranging the colors in opposite patterns in each of the two--so 4 light, 5 dark in one, and 4 dark and 5 light in the other. See the swap pic above for example. This is a good block for swap and quilting newbies, but you must have a well-filled out profile to join--meaning a list of some of your preferences and a little about you to let us know you better as a person. Rated swappers must have at least three Type 3 swaps completed and no recent 1s or 3s without reasonable explanations. No flakers welcome--if you even think you won't be able to complete this swap, please don't join. I will be checking participants carefully to try to make a happy swapping experience for all involved. Tutorial on "The Quilter's Cache" just reverse the colors required in the pattern. Summary: We will each send our 1 partner two 12 1/2" 9-Patch blocks in reverse color patterns made with their posted color preferences--two colors in printed fabrics, no solids. You can say something like Blue and white with Red, or Brown/yellow with dark green--something like that, and the single color fabrics can have small other colors in the pattern. The swap is USA only, and if you press your blocks folded neatly, they can both fit in a 6" x 9" letter envelope for minimal postage cost. If someone would like to copy the details here for an International or regional swap, feel free! Any questions, please PM me. |
