Description:

I was given permission by squince to host this swap as the swap was her idea [and a cool idea it is!!]

Below is a copy and paste from squince's international swap which by the way, if you'd like - you still have time to join it as well.

This swap is a US only one due to postage costs.

I just had a random idea.

I wonder how many postal carriers out there read our postcards. So let's do an experiment and you'll send one postcard to your one partner and put a note to the postal carrier on it [instead of a note to the one receiving the card]!

Something along the lines of: "Dear Postal Workers, We're doing an experiment to see if this card is read by postal workers! Put a smiley face here if you've read this!!"

So that way we can see if they read it! You can be more creative in your message, but try to incorporate a way for them to say if they've read it! :D

Postcards are senders choice!

Ratings of 4.95 required.

I hope you'll sign up and join in on the fun ... I'm so anxious to see if I'll get a postcard that was somehow marked by a postal worker who did read the one I get. : )

Simple pleasures, aren't they great?! : )

I reserve the right to ban anyone from the swap for unexplained and/or unresolved 1's and 3's in their ratings.

Oh I would love to join something like this. Such a neat idea!

windyacres 05/ 8/2015 #

This sounds so fun that I just have to join!

flowerchild 05/ 9/2015 #

I just did my postcard..."HEY POSTAL EMPLOYEE doing a little experiment between friends - if you took a moment to read this check here __ __ __...thanks :)" all done in lime green, orange and teal, if nothing else it will catch their eye!

LizzyJo 05/11/2015 #

Awesome idea! We could all comment here if the PC we receive has any indication of being read on it.

art3osb 05/11/2015 #

Just a note to postal carrier or should we write a not for partner on it as well? I figured using bright colors like orange, lime/neon green or a turquoise/teal color would catch their eye. I thought red would be a good color to use too. I agree with flowerchild. I will be using those colors.

03Scarlett 05/12/2015 #

@art3osb ... if you want you can write a "hi" there to your partner but as for myself, I'll use most of mine to write to the postal worker 'cuz after all, all of us are gonna be anxiously waiting to see if we got a smilie or some type of mark on our cards from the postal worker, right? lol

03Scarlett 05/12/2015 #

@LizzyJo - that is a great idea and I hope that I remember to come back and post and look to see!

03Scarlett 05/12/2015 #

Another thing I thought of ... I'd leave enough room for any postal workers that come across the card, enough room to put a smiley or a mark on the card. Just thought of that right now. Who knows, you know they'll come across different workers as they're past from place to place. I wonder just how many workers do handle the one piece of mail ... I'll bet it's more than 2 or 3, what do y'all think?

mcovey 05/13/2015 #

Great idea can't wait for mine to come and hear about the one I sent I know the guy at the window reads them all the time !

art3osb 05/13/2015 #

Okay, thanks Scarlet. I think I'll keep the space for the smiley face I hope are drawn on my partners.

CariPeace 05/13/2015 #

Great minds think alike, 03Scarlett!...I thought of the same thing in the International swap. :-) ~ As for trying to draw extra attention to my postcard, I'm not doing anything more than I already do for my regular p.c.'s that I send people. I'm using the same different colored inks, stickers and writing style that I normally use. The reason is, because I want to see if they read my postcards without me trying to do something extravagant to draw extra attention to my postcard.

CariPeace 05/13/2015 #

This is what I wrote: 'Hello, Postal Workers of America!! Hope you are well & Thank You for all that you do! We are doing an experiment to see who reads the postcards. Please simply place a "✓" check mark, or smiley face below and if you have time name your city & state!' {Then I added two rows of ___ __________ lines, with six places that could be filled.} At the bottom I wrote a series of Thank You's. ~ I was using a U.S.P.S. standard postcard with a description at the top re: the picture. So there was limited space. If you have the room, it may be better to add even more line options, if you want to do the same.☺

mcovey 05/14/2015 #

CariPeace I love that idea and was thinking of thanking them also for handling our mail !

03Scarlett 05/14/2015 #

For mine, I did a hand drawn picture of a mail carrier [it was actually a mail woman] and next to it I wrote "Dear Mail Carrier ... Thanks for all you do!] Then on the back, I wrote: Dear Postal Worker, We're doing an experiment to see if this card is read by a postal worker. Please make the recipient of this card happy by putting a smiley face on here if you've read it. Thanks so much!

[Please put smiley below!] Hoping for lots of smileys from lots of postal workers!] : )

I'm hoping that my partner gets at least one smiley but would love it if she got more and I sure hope that I get some too on mine! : )

flowerchild 05/16/2015 #

not to spoil the surprise but the first stop with mine got a good laugh!!!! and maybe a smiley........

art3osb 05/18/2015 #

I got my postcard today from Lisa and I got no smiley faces. :(

art3osb 05/18/2015 #

My postcard will read :Hey postal worker,". "You have my permission to read this. We are doing an experiment to see how many postal workers read this and draw a smiley face below the line and in the box. Thank you for your hard work."

fishsteak 05/18/2015 #

flowerchild 05/20/2015 #

I received a really fun PC today from @Sybil31562 ..but no one admitted to looking at it :( I still think this was a GREAT idea!!!

art3osb 05/21/2015 #

He really enjoys looking at the stamps too !!!

LisaLisa3 06/ 8/2015 #
